Mafia 72-Vampires game thread

I agree it's nit-picking at this point but read back at the rules 1) Dracula & >1) Vampire. I still say at least 3.

Jpap...I think it was your game. Was that the time travel one. I may very well be getting them mixed up at this point.

Rich...Thanks bud....I think!!!:grinyes:

It's been a busy day, I need to give my poor brain a rest. Will try to get back to catch up before nightfall.

I'm having a hard time with your "at least 3". In a team building game like this I would think that vampire would most likely start with only drac + 1. As evidenced by the last game I modded the game can go extremely quickly with conversions. Adding in the fact that night 1 is a definite turn (unless they hit a pure) and there is 50/50 that drac can turn another one night if they started with 3 players they could be up to a 5 in 15 (assuming they get luck and stake innocent). Add in the possibility of a UD and it could be 5 in 14 beginning of day 2. I think it is more likely that there is only drac + 1 at this point in the game.

Sorry about how my posts seem to jump around and may confuse you, as I have a very forgetful mindset that tends to forget and remember iteams quite consistantly.

I voted for 2 Hobbies because he seems to be "agressive" . IF I was a vamp, I would try to be as aggressive and active as possible, to eliminate any chance of me being thought of as trying to fake an untimely death, but waiting to the last minute to vote, so that people wouldn't get the chance to vote me out. Also, it seems like he has experience in this type of game, and COULD be influenced by other players in his posts. However, this could represent that he did his research into the previous games, and is prepared.

This is geetting intense......:uhoh:

I find some flaws in your theory of vampire being aggressive day 1. Almost everyone will agree that aggressive play on day gets you noticed. In my mind it would make more sense to lay low, throw out an excuse about how you've been busy but you're going to have a moment soon to catch up and make your decision then.

Please clarify, just to make sure i'm understanding you correctly. You are saying that a vampire would be aggressive day 1 to avoid being thought of trying to fake a UD? Would you consider not posting anything until 5 hours before nightfall faking a UD?

3 hours 41 minutes until nightfall.

I've been reading/skimming when my brain is relatively clear... gotta love percocet. The most alarming thing I've seen so far is TwoHobbies (henceforth: 2H). Here's a newb who has obviously read some old games! I gotta give you credit for that 2h... here's the 5 posts...

What I'm seeing here is a newb who is playing a little too vetishly. 2H says he/she followed along with the last three games, but there seems to be a level of insight into the game that bothers me. Between the guess at the number of vamps, the thought that FF would be getting "better advice" from a team if he were on one...

For now, I vote to lynch 2H. For the reasons stated above, as well as just to say :welcome: to the game.

I'm also interested in Ice calling out me and Rich, then voting pretty quickly for FF... gotta go back and look into the timing of that a little more though.

Your reasoning is laid out well, JB. You said in post #188 this vote was "for now" and that means you weren't sure if it would change later.
Oops... opiates + syntax make for a very confused Jamie... I vote to stake 2H.

Then later in post #208 you reconfirmed the same vote by phrasing it properly. Not sure if this is correct or not, but I take this to mean you're planning to leave it where it is now.

The more I read of 2H, the less I like my vote... I hate day 1.

I saw this post too... that was followed by two other posts raising questions elsewhere.

JB, is your vote still tentative or are you fairly solid there now?

Wiz, I think I actually was the 1st to question the Mods intentions when I said I don't believe in total random.

Here is the post I made explaining it.

All theories are worth posting.

Ok...

So I was wondering why FF has posted that particular note (to himself apparently) when if he made a sticky note or whatever he would see it and automatically think post...I thought possibly that he had posted it actually in the vamp den and since he would check that in the morning he would remember to post it. It was also weird since he added something to the end but forgot to remove the part before for himself.

Don't judge me...:uhoh:

Hmm.. still looking for decent suspects. I'm not finding anything I feel comfortable with for an actual vote. But I've been here all day and can't stay glued to the keyboard on through until nightfall.

With the vote tally updated, we have 5 votes on TwoHobbies (noobie) and 4 votes on Fishfriend (confusing posts). I don't like either of those candidates for a day 1 lynch... er, staking.

Noods and User_Name are also named with 1 vote each. Noods doesn't seem all that suspicious and UserName is another noob.

I'm not going to vote out a noob today but will watch them both. I'm also not voting Fishfriend today... I'd be more inclined to vote him IF he actually made better sense (which he does not) because that would lead me to believe his role was suspicious. Kinda the opposite position from those already voting him, I suppose.

I've pointed out this and that as I saw something to question. But as I posted before, I don't think any of it is actually voteworthy. So I still have no real suspects.

I don't actually have a problem with that, this being Day 1. Whoever the vamps are probably (possibly) haven't posted anything scummy this soon, anyway. So be it. Time will still tell and we'll track down the vamps as it becomes more difficult for them to hide from us.

If I had to pick someone (which I do)... and lacking anything more substantial to base a vote on... I'll just go with a generic default kind of thing. Not liking either candidate of a two-way split, I'm most suspicious of those in position with their votes to benefit from somewhere safe to hide out. Looking at the vote count, that'd be probably JM or Chill... maybe even Rich or Noods.

I know it isn't much, but... I vote to stake Chill.

All the role play stuff + being the third vote on a train + jumping on a noob. It's not much better than a random coin flip, but it's all I can come up with so far.

Subject to change...

I thought that too but there is actually a Mac app called sticky. I googled it.

Uggh... even on Day 1, playing catchup is a pain.

Note: While reading through from where I'd left off before, I thought I pulled Ice's quote as well where he suggested Lab might handpick either Rich or JB for the lead vamp role. (I'll go back and get that one if somebody needs me to.) Anyway...

What I found noteworthy about that post from Ice was it's a good way to deflect such theories and suspicions onto other vets who play under the radar.... and away from himself.

In actuality, IF Lab Rat decided to hand pick that role then lie to us about all roles being randomly assigned (which has since been confirmed that she did not hand pick anything)... then Ice would have proved an excellent candidate himself for such a hand picked lead vampire role. However, I notice Ice conveniently left himself off that list.

With this point in mind...

Even if Ice (randomly!) landed on the vampire team with another player in the lead role.... making that suggestion early on might dissuade the rest of us from suspecting Ice at all.

Interesting Day 1 strategy there, Ice.

Reading further, Dag made an odd point further speculating about who's innocent or evil based on a totally erroneous supposition Ice tossed out for us. This logic baffles me as I don't see any direct correlation between Lab Rat hand selecting a single lead vamp role assignment (which is a dead end anyway because she's confirmed it isn't true)..... and any other role in the game (noob or otherwise).

More speculation posted here about what the game mod may or may not do.

Mind you, I'm not blasting either Dag or Jpappy about this because it is hard not to get sidetracked like this when someone like Ice posts a useless and speculatory theory as he does sometimes.

I'm more inclined to view Ice and his motives as slightly more suspicious than sincerely pro-town when I see him throwing out baseless and unsubstantiated ideas like this.

Thanks for clarying the point, Lab Rat. We were already heading off into odd and counter-productive directions based on what "seemed" to be a harmless suggestion.

THIS is why I thought Dag had brought up the same case twice. Kash brought up the exact same case 1st.

Now neither think the 2 lead vote getters are vote worthy. To coincidental for me.

I retract my vote to stake FF and vote to stake Kash

I vote to lynch DD

Has been very quiet. Posted a couple of times on the site yesterday but didn't feel the need to say anything...and has been absent for a while now...

Most of the talk has been about FF or 2H, neither of which I feel comfortable enough lynching. I don't really see anything scummy about 2H at this point and I feel like I need to poke FF more to get a real read. I was going to tie it up for the heck of it but there are still a couple votes out their and it could just tip to one side anyways.
