Here Dag.. why I figured 3.
Here you even thought 2 to start...I couldn't find the post but maybe 2H will pull it for us.
Does that help explain it for you Dag?
We know there were at least 2 original vamps (who could be anybody since those assignments were random)... and they added a turn.
My suspects: Ice and JM as original vampires with someone like JB, Wizard, Rich, Lady G, or Chill as their turn.
Now, if you're right that there were 4 vampires at game start, then you're also right that this plan I've suggested isn't such a good idea. But I disagree with you on that count. There's no way (in my opinion) Lab Rat as game mod would have given the vampire team 4 full members, plus allow them a 50/50 chance every single night to recruit someone else, plus give the lead vampire an additional one-time bite. That makes this a team-building/recruitment game for the evils and that's why I think there were 2 vamps.
Lab Rat was also aware there was quite a lot of discussion how imbalanced the setup was in a previous game... which she commented about in either her sign up thread or the general mafia thread, by stating she'd make sure that wouldn't be the case in her game. Staffing the vampire side with a full team plus let them team-build daily on top of that would have been totally unfair to the town.
This forces the vampires (at least 3 now) to also take a position, state their reasons, and put their names on it.
If there were three to start with two successful turns they are at 5. A lynch of an innocent leaves 15 players, after night one they would be 2 away from winning. I feel that LR would have not made it that easy for the vamps to win. Therefor they started with 2 and now have 3.
I did most of my disagreeing with you.
Interesting post kash. Works great unless you and Ice are sucking us into one grand finale. I don't think so though. I think we have 3 vampires at most right not. If they started with 3 this game would not have been fair at all.
I didn't like the votes on DD last night, and still don't today, but do now at least understand the thinking behind voting her late day one.
I have a problem with Dag trying to sell us the 2 Vampire theory, and
Here you even thought 2 to start...I couldn't find the post but maybe 2H will pull it for us.
In a standard format mafia game, roughly 25% of the group is mafia up against 75% innocents. The premise being it's an informed minority competing against an uninformed majority.
Let's say they start out with 20 players. Among those, 5 would be mafia on Day and 15 would be townies.
This is a different game format because the mafia gets to recruit new teammates. And that's the reason why it would give them an unfair advantage over the innocents if they started out with a full team and were then allowed to increase their numbers every night. The town wouldn't stand a chance.
So....
In a team-building format, the mafia usually starts with only 1 member. And they start choosing their own teammates night after night. In this case, Lab Rat already told us she didn't want to start with only 1 vampire .... because it's too risky. All it takes is one lucky stake (town lynch or slayer) and the game is over prematurely. So she started us off with at least 2 vampire opponents.
Since we have 17 players, the standard mafia percentage of 25% would mean the vampire team is "fully staffed" with 4 members. So they had to start with less than that or the game would not be balanced fairly.
That leaves us guessing between 2 vampires (Drac + 1 vamp) or 3 vampires (Drac + 2 vamps) at the beginning of Day 1.
