Mafia 73: Werewolf Game!

My previous post was written right after getting home. It was written in a wrong state of mind and for that I apologize to LR for anything I may have said that was out of line.
I'm sure it is fine...;)

07-05-2010 08:45 PM ET (US) Can we adopt Lady G?

We loved you! See why we couldn't have you lynched? :p:

meh i'm over it WW would have won either way. even if we took out LR tonight i would have been set on Lady G tomorrow.

I understand, but it seems like we're setting a dangerous precedent here...

Just got home from work, not quite what I was expecting, but good game everyone. If I offended anyone I apologize as I did not mean to, I was trying to protect my "innocent" self.

Actually, I just now read it and I would have withdrawn from the game. To me, it was a blatant rule violation. It's fine to take her idea, but he needed to put it in his own words and not attribute it to her. Even copypasta without her name on it would be obvious as Kash has a very distinct writing style. Doing so keeps her alive in the game. I thought it was questionable when Kash would post that "JB agrees" since JB should have no direct input like that into the game thread since he was dead. Might as well not have killed them off. Does that make sense?

Thanks Rich! I appreciate your "investigation" on me, that really helped me out. :hitting:

So why can we claim that "coaching" and "post writing" are scummy things but then when a communicating team actually does it we cry foul? Copy and pasting someone else's post who you are communicating with is NOT against the rules unless you throw in interpretation. Kashta herself never posted anything game related in the thread after her death as far as I know. If we are to allow dead teammates to communicate with each other then they can't even copy each others wording? That's dumb.

I agree that Jm should not have quoted Kashta and told people it was from her, but honestly, people need to realize the double standard we are setting here...

It was wrong no matter how you look at it, the first time Kash posted about JB isn't buying it either, I personally thought that was wrong, you CAN NOT put what dead members have said. You can NOT put up a post written by a dead team member. It is wrong, it is unfair and FF did exactly what should of been done. I would of called the game the second I saw the post if I were a mod. They all three have played this game long enough to know that was not right. Maybe from now on we need a rule once your dead you can't chat with other members of your team? We have always been able to communicate after death with our fellow members but if this is what is going to be going on, maybe we need to rethink the rules.

FF you did a great job modding :grinyes:

Everyone else great game!

Please see above. I think people are reading way too far into what happened. If post sharing is against the rules now we might as well not have any communicating teams at all since they may be "copying" each other

Nothing wrong with coaching, but "post writing" for someone else is wrong, no matter what the team. It's one thing for a killed off player to give their communicating teammates an idea and help them refine a post. It's very different for the dead player to write the post and have it directly copied and pasted in the game thread. When the latter occurs, the player who has been killed off is actively posting in the thread by proxy. It makes the communicating dead player immortal since they are fighting their case from beyond the grave. If JM had put Kash's idea into his own words I don't think anyone would have had a problem with it. Obviously, the situation that presented in this game is rare, due to the game format.

How do you feel about Kash posting that "JB agrees" with things she was saying? To me that was bending the rules, since JB should have no input into the game thread itself. Great if he agrees behind closed doors but his agreement should not be leveraged to persuade people in the game imo. I can see how this could be argued the other way, because you can claim anything you want (for example I claimed Rich must have cleared me), but it didn't sit right with me when it happened, and I don't think that was just because I was on the scum team and it was against me.

I think it is good to discuss this since it came up and created issues, maybe we can figure out something to augment the rules that everyone agrees on as to this situation.

I don't see it as wrong at all...it has happened in the past and up until recently a lot of times people wouldn't even post their chat log so it wouldn't have made a difference. Again, if we can accuse people of being coached why can't we then allow it to happen?

If Kash was even refining Jm's post isn't that sort of like her talking in the thread? To me it seems like it is all or nothing. Either the teams can communicate and post whatever they like in the thread (except the role PM from the mod) or we don't have any outside collaboration at all. Again, this is nothing new, just the context was different. By that I mean it was known Jm and Kash were teammates and Kash was dead. If she was dead and it wasn't known they were teammates at the time of the post would people have been able to call them out on it? Would it have made a difference? I don't know. I understand Kash seems to have a certain writing style but what about other players? Would you be able to tell if I, for example, wrote a post for someone else word for word? This just seems to be opening up an unnecessary can of worms.

I think the overall frustration of the game blew it out of proportion. We are trying to draw a thin line between writing a post for someone and tweaking the post...that is far too nit picky and shouldn't be something the mods need to reinforce.

Would it have made a difference if Kash said "the Men in Arms team" instead of singling out Jb as agreeing with them? Not in my opinion...would that be bending the rules? Don't see how it would...

When you role claim, everything is on the table. It's been part of the game and in some has been against the rules...maybe we should make that a permanent fixture.

I guess I'm too new to remember it happening. And you may be right, Kash posts in a sophisticated and eloquent style, so it is distinctive, though I bet I could pick out your writing, as well as Ice's, JB's, JL's, just to name a few. (Actually, it might be fun to play a game with [AC] handles and try to figure out who is who). Also, the fact it was quoted and directly attributed to her "zombie" self probably makes it more controversial than if he'd only copypastaed.

To me it would have been different, but it is a grey area. I would be in favor of adding a no role claiming rule. Personally, I hate role claiming. I meant to have that rule in my vampires game, but when I copied the rules I forgot to add it. When Dag came out as seer I was kicking myself for not adding it (I had to go back and check, sure enough I forgot to add it) since it screwed the vampire team over.
