Mafia 73: Werewolf Game!

User, you didn't last longer than a single day in the only other game you played with us. You were also mostly a no-show at the dead ghost board for that game so, I'm not sure if you followed everything very well.

Because you are still new to this, I suspect the question you asked after I voted Rocker may be sincerely intended. So for that reason, I'll explain this from my perspective, at least... then I have some other questions for you as well.

how is it bad to not treat this game like life or death and joke around a bit???

Is this a general question up for grabs or are you directing it to someone specific?

I'm just posting a general question out there, it seems weird that when some people don't take it 100% serious it's a problem. He very well could be a wolf trying to appear good by posting stuff that makes people laugh, so they become less likely to vote him. Although those posts may appear scummy, I think that he is just having a good time. I've never played with him, so I don't know if he always does this or whatever.

(That last quote is just the bottom part of User name's original post. I'll also comment about the top paragraph from that same post... below.)

Let me start by saying, you're right that this is a game and it's a lot of fun for us. Players who also crack jokes and make us laugh along the way are also the most fun to have around. There's nothing wrong with that.

At the same time, however, there are also a certain number of players with evil role assignments who are trying to fool us so we won't become suspicious of them early enough for us to lynch them before they have time to kill us off, one by one.

For that reason...... we first need to realize those on the mafia team (the werewolves, in this case) are going to do their best to tell us lies, to avoid discussing topics that might help us find them or their teammates, and try to stay hidden as much as they possibly can.

HOW they accomplish this depends on each person's personality..... some folks remain quiet so they won't get noticed or questioned.... others post a lot so they seem to be participating but still don't say anything revealing.... some people make up bogus excuses blaming real-life issues to explain why they can't be here to post very much... and some folks come up with other strategies that sound also believable. Those are just a few examples.

I didn't become suspicious about Rocker, in particular, simply because he's fun and has posted a few jokes. A lot of us joke around and that's fine. What made me suspect him, though, is the fact that Rocker is obviously following the thread on a regular basis - and the fact that he isn't helping us try to figure out who some of the evil players are. As far as I'm concerned, this is a fairly good indication that he's trying to skate by (as a werewolf) without having to risk his own life or that of a scummate by saying anything useful.

Keep in mind... anyone who doesn't do anything to root out the scum (werewolves) are actually just sitting back on their arse, letting other townies put themselves at more risk, and actually help the scum team in the long run.

Rocker may be evil or he may be a townie. Either way... if he's not going to help the town win this game, then he's helping the werewolves defeat us. That's why I decided to vote him.

(This quote is the top paragraph from the same post.)

:shakehead: I'm not following anybody around, it justs seems that kash and lady g are always backing each other up. This is clearly teamwork, and their posts have been scummy. As for voting for JM at that time, he was acting strange and I thought that voting for him made the most sense, and because I wanted to have a vote out there in case I couldn't post tonight.

User, if you honestly believe Lady G and I are doing this... please back up your claim by showing me which posts lead you to reach this conclusion. Saying "their posts have been scummy" is one thing.... but it doesn't really mean anything unless you explain why and tell us which posts you're talking about. (You also don't give me an opportunity to answer an accusation like that unless you tell me what I've said that makes you think I'm suspicious.)

So, kindly show me which posts of mine make you think I'm scummy.

imho, kash is scummy because her user name is written in blood.........

I singled out lg because her post was readily available. lots of people are bringing up jpap and i.
you did a good job adding your commentary about what you saw on the topic. i just think itd be super if the other people who also see it would do the same.

if you think its fine that people parrot your thouhtsg, then thats a whole other issue.

Okay, fair enough I guess. I just wondered why you decided to question someone else when I was the one who first posted that impression.

As for what others have had to say... wondering whether they agree with my opinion or are just following someone they think made a valid point.... I have no idea. It may even be a little of both for all I know. All I can do is wonder that as well... and as I notice something that doesn't ring true in my mind, to question them about it. Just like you're doing.

Thinking about what you said and where your vote lies, I did also ask you a specific question. You didn't answer that part, so let me repeat the same question to you again.

Is your vote still there because you think Pappy really is scum.. and if so, what has Pappy said or done which makes you suspect him so much? (Other than skimming just rules.)

That last line should read, "(Other than just skimming rules.)"

Although it is going to sound a little OMGUSey, I vote to lynch jpappy. It just seems that he just doesn't want to find and get rid of werewolves, but instead he is leading us all away from that by going after me crazily over nothing. Sure, it might only be day one, but we still have to find them and not even attempting to look despite it being early is just foolish. I have looked at everyone, and with every passing response and post he is looking more and more scummish to me, besides the fact that he took something a but out ofthe ordinary and made it into a two-day long ordeal, effectively distracting the town from looking for other possily werewolves during that span of time.

Thank you, Chill. I totally forgot about Dag. This makes me even more suspicious that Wiz singled out the noobs for not posting enough when there are vets playing way under the radar.

As I sit here trying to figure where to vote, I have a question for the noobs. Now I can understand UN being quiet, last game as an innocent he slipped once and got lynched fairly quickly and definately.

To our first-timers, I ask this: With all the anticipation and questioning of when the game started, I find your lack of posts to be a little concerning.

It seems from my experience, first timers do one of two things, they either don't participate or they over post and get themselves lynched.

I see to much restraint in our noobs posts for comfort. I also know the kind of advice that is given them in scum dens about how to post and how much to post.

Many of us, myself included, don't like voting noobs D1. We like to see new players come in and stick around to play future games.

Being a noob does not however, give you a buy in my book. The roles are random and a noob could just as easily get the PM stating scum as any of our vocal players.

I won't vote there today but would like to know what the new player's have to say about their enthusiasm and then scarcity in the game.

Being a noob, I guess I am not very comfortable posting as much as LG or someone. I kind of want to sit back and watch how the game works. I don't want to be outgoing, because if I were to randomly find reasons to vote an experienced player that no one else has voted for, that would be suspicious. If I were to randomly say "I vote the wiz because he is acting suspicious", that would sound like I was being coached or something. Yes, I sort of followed the jm train, but some of the people's arguments to vote him made sense to me. He did kind of act suspicious. I did skim through the last game and I saw UN's slip which got him kicked off and that worried me as well. I wouldn't like to think I'm under-posting, just kind of getting used to the mechanics of the game. I hope that was a decent response.

I like how you are pointing fingers towards jm. I mean me and just about everyone else sorta jumped on him. And actually if you read that page you would notice how scummy those posts were. Ps. You seem awfully defensive....
I'm not trying to sound like i was the first one who found jm suspicious, I admit, I followed a train on that. I'm extremely new to this game and I still do not fully understand its mechanics. And yes, I probably will seem a bit defensive when I get accusations thrown at me.

Going back through from where I left off last night, I found something that made me smile.
So trying to figure where to put my vote, since most likely I wont be here to change it before nightfall. Hopefully I will be and will have more to go on, but I do not want to take a chance of UDing.
There are so many things that make me think hmmm, but none of which make me think OMG...WW!!!
JM, his comments about not seeing "joke votes"...maybe he is really thinking that, but I find it hard to believe.

Pap/Zaff and their "almost feels like one" posts. Pap quickly turns it into a vote for JM, Zaff ends up voting Pap....even though they seem to think pretty much the exact same thing.

User, with his "can we post/vote"...now I realize he was taken out day 1 last game, but I would think/hope he followed along with the rest of the game he should know how it works. Also bringing up the PR, just doesn't sit good with me at all.

Piranha, asking Kash why she would want to know how many WW we have, then posting a pretty big number as to his guess, bringing up the PR.

JB, seemed (to me) he was pulling posts from everyone in a pretty "accusing" kinda way in a attempt to get anyone to jump on anything.

I need to look back through and decide where to place my vote.
LOL... LG, you've seen me get accusatory before. This isn't it. This is me asking questions to try to make a better decision. If you'll notice, I haven't even voted yet because I'm trying to figure things out. If you think this is me being finger pointy, just give it a couple days. :22_yikes:

My notes:
JB is acting non-evilish. From what I hear, this is abnormal. He is playing like a normal person, just not like normal JB.
Jm is now keeping quiet. He was quick to accuse and jabber in the beginning, and now he is taken back, almost silent. Is this because everyone thought he was scummy? Or is there a deeper reason...?
UN is not quite defensive, maybe jittery would be a good word. He is following the wiz, is this because he is a newer player or the wiz is alpha and he is puppy? He readily jumped on me for trying to be non-noobish and for being 'defensive'.
Zaffy is slightly quiet. I think it is too early to review that...

So, do I keep my vote on jm or change it? I'm not really sure for now and I may or may not be back for nightfall. I am not changing my vote for now. Just my two cents.
