Mafia 73: Werewolf Game!

Influencing someone's post and actually writing it out for them are two different things. I feel that a technicality was abused by having JM post Kashta's perfectly formatted post.

This might be a bad analogy, but it reminds me of homework. Say a kid has a report and asks for help. Do you assist them and give them thoughts and ideas to build on or do you write it for them? In no way am I comparing JM to a kid here or the game to a homework assignment so please don't take that offensively. I just don't know how else to describe it.

You can probably tell how I felt about the role claiming once it happened from the wolf den chat. :P

Lab: see Mad's "Witness Protection" game...it's where the [AC] aliases were created.

I just don't think we need a new rule unless we ban RCing completely. I don't like it either, kind of takes the fun out of it when one person is basically running the town, but as always it is up to the discretion of the mod.

Maybe we could put it up to a vote to see where a majority of sentiments lie as to whether no role claiming should be incorporated into basic rules as a default. It could then be taken out at the discretion of the mod for their particular game if that is how they prefer to roll.

Also...you should probably stop mooning me... :hitting:

You can't ban role-claiming....it's a legitimate part of the game. If you can claim your role and not get killed, more power to you. The only time I've seen role-claiming banned, is when it can break the game's setup....unfortunately, though, if you've got to ban role-claiming to keep from having your game busted, it's a pretty weak setup to start with...

The problem I see it here, is that dead people need to stay dead, and uninvolved in the game... If people are talking about implementing any overall rule changes, start there. Dead communicators love to stay involved with their team, and I've done it myself, but it's really not the fairest thing to do.

Before banning role-claiming I would completely ban dead player interaction with their respective teams....it's how the rest of the world plays mafia. If zombies want to remain involved in the game, have a "Valhalla" thread where dead players are invited to talk about the game, after being killed, without actually affecting the game.

I agree, Role Claiming ruins the game, especially whenthe best part of this game is finding out who everyone is! Anyone know what the next mafia game will be?

It depends how much they pay........ I agree with you on the connection there it does kinda remind me of that.

Okay I was reluctant to wade into this because I was viewing it as water under the bridge but if we're talking about future game rules than that's different. I had a problem with the post being identified as coming from Kash, as such it it was clearly an after death post. My feeling about her helping her team mates after death are less strong. As long as these things are clear up front in the rules I think it should be the mod's discretion. Role claiming doesn't bother me one way or the other as it may or may not be true and the town still has to decide to trust the person making the claim. As long as the rules allow it I've no problem with role claiming. After death communication with your team I'm less fond of, but if it was allowed occasionally and the mod stated this up front I wouldn't really have a problem with it.

I understand, but it seems like we're setting a dangerous precedent here...

So why can we claim that "coaching" and "post writing" are scummy things but then when a communicating team actually does it we cry foul? Copy and pasting someone else's post who you are communicating with is NOT against the rules unless you throw in interpretation. Kashta herself never posted anything game related in the thread after her death as far as I know. If we are to allow dead teammates to communicate with each other then they can't even copy each others wording? That's dumb.

I agree that Jm should not have quoted Kashta and told people it was from her, but honestly, people need to realize the double standard we are setting here...

Please see above. I think people are reading way too far into what happened. If post sharing is against the rules now we might as well not have any communicating teams at all since they may be "copying" each other
Pap, I'm sorry it is wrong...once a person is dead, they are dead and should stay so. Their direct opinions and thoughts need to stay out of the game. I would be willing to bet, if it was done by someone else...JM and Kash would feel exactly the same way. I also agree about Kashs statement about JBs feelings was out of line.
Really, aside from the fact ppl love to be able to continue to talk to others there is no reason for them to stay in communication with their team once dead.
