Mafia 88: Insane Asylum (Game Thread)

I've explained that comment, do you still find it suspicious?
I find it odd. Like you were trying to set me up. Still doesn't sit right with me, though I don't think it's enough to earn my vote just based on that. At least not at this point.

I have been singing this song all day. And spamming my friends with the video. They really appreciated it.

Just out of curiosity how often is a bad guy lynched on night one?
Just out of curiosity, have you played a mafia game before? I thought Mad said he was only taking those who had played before. This is a total noob question if I've ever heard one. Set up to try and play the noob card later?

I'll offer a compromise though... if you post in spanish, continue to post an english translation also. If they're all jokes, let us all in on it. It seems only fair.
If there are any posts you want a translation on, just quote them and I will translate them for you. :thm:

Right now if I had to vote, it would be a toss up between chupacabra, old3toes, and goldleader. Each only have a lone post. I know it's only day 1, but even banter can be useful in finding scum.

I have played 3 games a while ago, and from what I recall every game started with the lynch of a friendly player, it might have been 2 friendlies and 1 bad guy. It was truly out of curiosity, I will not be playing the noob card that I assure you.

Still not sure what to think of the whole wing nut/wood/misspelling/would/scoop issue. Maybe it is nothing but at this point the initial reaction by scoop to what I said regarding it being possibly just a simple mistype is what has caught my eye most so far. I may be overthinking this but I still stand by the point that it seemed to become a bigger deal when I mentioned this possibility than just wanting to point it out.

More recently it was brought up that Nemesis was trying to get people to be quiet. I see that in the individual post but I wouldn't interpret that as them wanting to cut off ALL discussion as it was first described as since it addressed two specific people early in the game. Maybe another jump to conclusion this time by Narwhal BUT I did notice that Driver asked Nemesis why they thought those people (Narwhal and DDay I think?) needed to be quiet and I haven't seen a direct answer to that either.

Going back to narwhal in the initial post where this is all brought up they say something about Nemesis' posts still being genuine. I always am leery when people say things like that THIS early, especially since it's based on four fluff posts...

This is what is playing into my decision on who to vote for tomorrow.

I have reread the thread a few times and don't see much. Some day 1 gibberish, let's talk about pizza but not toppings.

About all that stands out is Scoop seems to be directing attention to wingnut and narwhal is directing attention to nemessis.

C-note seemed to dislike the spanish posts.

What one needs to consider/wonder are motives. Why would Scoop and Narwhal want to direct attention as they appear to be doing?

Are they scum trying to set up some innocents for lynching?

Are they innocents eager to try to find scum?

I seriously doubt that the scum would reveal themselves so early in the game by telling us to not post when from what I read it was in referrence to guessing who had what alias.(which can do us no good spending time trying to guess who is who when we need to look for scummy behavior)

I also doubt that scum would be so blatant as to mispell would twice in one sentance as Scoop has pointed out. What purpose would that serve?

I was thinking that it is a good thing that Mad gave us the option of voting no one or voting ourselves to avoid ud as I could not think of where my vote should fall. We do have a history of lynching innocents on day 1.

However, after reading today's posts, I do believe that my vote will most likely fall on Narwhal or Scoop.

Sorry for being absent so long. My time is limited but I'll contribute as much as I can in the time I have. Read through the posts and will comment about my thoughts to this point.

Awakening slowly from psychotic-drug induced nightmares, Chupa tries to make sense of the crumpled note he has trouble even focusing on.

“IMPORTANT! You are now a patient of the AC Insane Asylum, but have been committed against your will. You must work with others, in similar situations, to get out.

BEWARE! There are several evils, planted among you, who will try to thwart your plans to leave.”

Chupa sighs, mumbles "need to get out" then doses off again on the thin lumpy mattress.

It's been a while, what exactly is an FF?

Looks like narwhal is trying to make us guess wrong about who they are. We're supposed to think narwhal doesn't know even who FF is?

Nice touch, I suppose. Still doubt anyone in the game would be misled by something like this.

guess it wood depend on how you look at it. you wood have to watch the movie.

Wood and wood. Don't know who that is either but I'd bet it's someone who doesn't misspell common words and who usually posts using normal capitalization. lol.

I'll skip over other examples. There are lots of those but IMO it's a waste of time us trying to guess player ID's. Not convinced those are actually scum-tells anyway, nor should they be made to seem so.

Near as I can tell, we can't even remember our own names much less decide who is who, but we'll figure this out in the end.

Somehow.............

As far as guessing who's who, I agree that it could take some of the fun out of the game. For example... if I noticed that someone posted in this thread that their second language was Japanese, and if I could have sworn that, that reminded me of someone I had played with before.:lipssealedsmilie: If that were to happen, I might be able to have a better baseline by which to play this game, and have more insight into his role. :thm:

If something like that were to happen, I just don't know if I could leave it alone. :welcome:

While I agree that it shouldn't be a huge part of the game, something obvious can be kinda fun.

Ok C-note. We get it. You know who that is. You really think this gives you more insight into his role? There is a possible down side to consider. It's also true that we read too much into our perceptions of players and often draw the wrong conclusions from that.

it gives a tell as to how people are playing, when someone is deliberately trying to appear less intelligent (no offense, thats just what is implied by bad spelling) it could be a play to appear as less of a threat. It always could be legit, and even if it's not I would hope that someone wouldn't get voted for trying to post differently then their normal style, especially considering the fact that we have no idea who each other is

Just my 2 cents here. I think we're better off just being who we are and focus on the game itself. Trying to play like someone else or hide our own style would likely backfire on us. This would also probably help the scum, not hurt them.

Yeah sorry I wasn't here sooner.

(Still trying to figure wtf is a chupa-ca-something.)
