Mafia 88: Insane Asylum (Game Thread)

This has literally taken me all day and all night to fully read this thread up to the present posts. I've never been this inactive or fallen behind in a game this bad before...sure as heck hope I never go through something like this in a mafia game again.

I know you all don't want to hear it, so I'll stop complaining about that now. But I almost feel as though I should re-introduce myself....lmao.

Hi there. I'm the one who doesn't speak Spanish and wasn't interested in movies, pizza, or salads so I thought it would be fun to post a meaningless role play.

Some of you may still wonder why I posted that RP among the early Day 1 fluff. I had just reread the first post from Mad.....and I thought that little crumbled note we got was creepy.

I imagined how frightening it would be to be committed against our will like that...doped out of our minds...then get such a scary message to warn us how bad everything really was....To sort of/almost realize through our drug-induced fogginess just what kind of evil was working against us and how much danger we all were in.

That note Mad slipped us was also a serious warning that some of the "patients" were spys posing as fellow "inmates" of the asylum. This made me also wonder about things Mad didn't tell us. We don't know who it came from, who warned us. We also don't know if these notes fell into the hands of our captors. If that was the case, then they (mafia) would be tipped off that we'd try to come together to stop them if we could.

I don't know. For some reason, the setup of this game just creeped me out a lot more than the usual good vs. evil stuff we usually get. That's what motivated me to post what I did before the game got going.

Anyway, back to the game at play...

As I was more than 2 full days behind everyone else, I started all over again from the beginning. Silly me, I thought I'd just read everything through from start to finish and jot down notes I thought were significant so I'd be able to post something of value. The problem with that approach, I discovered, was what seemed like nothing at the time it first posted erupted into a point of controversy later on. I've had to go back and forth to read and re-read everything over and over just to figure out what's going on so I could catch up enough to jump back into this game.

Even with me being gone so much, I've seen that you were able to see through what Hammer tried to pull on me. You all did a great job pinning him down, so I won't dredge all that up again. But I do need to address some things from the 1st day that I didn't get a chance before to post about.

Interesting. Hammerhead, why is it that you focused on Chup's intro post and seemed to not notice the other 4 perfectly valid posts?

Those were some informative posts of Chup's.

@Gunslinger: So, just so you know and don't have to go back 2 pages to find it, Why does that conversation seem like early distancing? You know, from you post at #137.

The blue part was a good question but the red part bothers me.

IMO my posts were okay......really, just okay. They weren't great and I didn't consider them particularly informative TBH. Drawing high praise from Bad Haggis for a few mediocre posts concerned me at the time and still does a little.

I don't like it when someone cozies up to me like this....stuff like that creates a little blurp on my scumdar. Though admittedly, that's often a false ping that's easy to misread, so I've learned that I can't rely on it. Even so, I've been leery of BH ever since he posted that about me

Good question here. I've also wondered if the communicating teammates actually know who their teammates are.

True, but I don't exactly expect people to not give a standard excuse if questioned. A slip can just as easily not be a slip and be an erroneous assumption.

Plus I'm not exactly sure how the anonymity of the game works within any communicating dens.

Question for Mad: Are the communicators allowed to reveal their real identities to each other if they want to?

As far as guessing who's who, I agree that it could take some of the fun out of the game. For example... if I noticed that someone posted in this thread that their second language was Japanese, and if I could have sworn that, that reminded me of someone I had played with before.:lipssealedsmilie: If that were to happen, I might be able to have a better baseline by which to play this game, and have more insight into his role. :thm:

If something like that were to happen, I just don't know if I could leave it alone. :welcome:

While I agree that it shouldn't be a huge part of the game, something obvious can be kinda fun.

I do not think this is a pro-town attitude or even pro-game.

I vote to lynch c-note.

Either Old3Toes is innocent and really believed CNote was scum.... or if Gunslinger and O3T are both mafia, O3T might be going after CNote here (known innocent now) so they wouldn't reveal who Gunslinger is.

This was still Day 1 so the mafia didn't have an invest result yet. They couldn't have known yet that CNote was our Vigilante.

Post #275 - Bad Haggis voted Gunslinger (distancing?) and later retracted.
Post #277 - I voted Hammer for obvious (to me) scummy tactics directed at me.
Post #278 - Gunslinger voted Nemesis immediately following my vote.
Post #292 - Bah Haggis followed Guns' vote and voted alongside his previous "suspect" against Nemesis.

At this point, Hammer hadn't even goofed yet so other townies would really notice, but Gun and BH are already positioning themselves in a way that could be considered defensive or protective of Hammer.

So you admit to skimming. I actually posted about Mael, Gold, Rickets and UHOH. I need to take a better look at you and Gun. But that will have to wait till this afternoon when I get back.

if rickets is scum uhoh probably isn't, uhoh has been going after rickets pretty hard especially at a time others were looking at him.

I am suprised that so many of us have not posted yet. I have been thinking about the game and wishing I could see what was going on. That was about as bad as a night as possbile. My first thought to the reactions is that I do not like how the singleton voters are lumped together with the players voting "no one". I think two people voting no one is bad. It is better than having a UD, but still they should have some sort of suspects. Speaking of suspects, I do not see how Driver8 has not gotten more attention with the "known innocent" statement. I think the "known innocent" they speak of is still alive and there status is unknown. Now Driver8 has appeared to take on a leadership role.

The question now is which of these has not been of much help.

Gold has had some kind of problem so I will skip them.

Mael has been around a bit but decided he did not have enough to vote with or some such. We need some thoughts from you.

Gun has me worried posted just enough to be here but I do see what was of much use or new ideas.

Doom is dead, sorry to see a townie go.

3 Toes has been active but really sure where they stand on all of this.

I think we all need to get digging.

way to take a stand on players, im assuming then that gun is your only votable suspect after 3 days of reading.
