Mafia 88: Insane Asylum (Game Thread)

Unfortunately I couldn't make it on before nightfall...but it appears you didn't need any help from me. Great job finding the scum!!

This post explains almost all of what I was going after you for. One thing I don't see is why you wanted to know Nem's role so bad. Now that you know the role what does it tell you? Unless I missed it I don't think you mentioned that. I tend to believe your claim based on taking BH out and also we haven't seen a counter claim from anyone. I'm sure if you got any more useful info from last night you would share it with us but obviously it is not a good idea to help the scum narrow down who the PR's might be.
since it was basically a two man race day 1, when people were voting based on silly things, I think it's the most valuable vote to study. We knew HH was Mafia but we didn't know if Nem was also mafia or innocent. I will admit the info was more valuable if Nem was scum also, but I think the votes as they are make Narwhal and the singleton votes look scummy. (Yes I realize I was one of them) I plan to go back into that in more depth later today.

And you are correct, my tracking result are of no help to the town at this time.

screw it, I've put too much energy into this game as it is. I'm just gonna post everything in the morning, I've been trying to deal with this for a few hours now, and I've been staying up too late posting. This makes me extra pissed off at people who barely post...

I'm probobly just going to roll over and play dead at this point, no use in saving a town that doesn't plan on being saved. Rickets + Tib are scum, and I will turn as an innocent townie. Good luck everyone, and I vote to lynch Tib
That right there is a frustrated scum tell if there ever was one. I understand it is late, then just go to bed. But the "woah is the town that lynches me" line is tried and true scum fodder.

Day 1 votes again

HH (8) - chup 277, wing 310, Tib 320, Nar 323, gold 363, Nem 368, Tree 383, mael 385
Nem (5) - Driver 261, HH 269, Gun 278, BH 292, HI IQ 361
Scoop (2) - wing 168, Doom 196, Star 274
C-note (1) - O3T 192
UhOh (1) - RICK 237
Doom (1) - UhOh 271
Tib (1) - C-note 272
Star (1) - scoop 297
O3T (0) - RICK 186
Gun (0) - **BH 275**
Chup (0) - HI IQ 295
Mael (0) - Nem 236
RICK (0) - HI IQ 322
Nar (0) - mael 240, gold 268

The purple is scum, lime is known innocent, red is retracted, red underline is retracted by a known innocent. ** is a retracted scum vote.

My analysis doesn't look so crazy now does it?

I really hate coming back to this, but you keep bringing it up.

Before my vote, it was 4-3 with Nem in the lead. My vote caused a tie 4-4 (which is apparently what you think is scummy, me causing a tie. Is that correct?). Then HI IQ puts Nem back in the lead, 5-4. Almost immediately Goldleader ties it up at 5-5 (again, scummy move). Nem moves his vote making it 6-5 for HH. Mael and Tree both pile on at the end. Mael was trying to vote HH before Tree did, but was having technical difficulties (as pointed out by others). I would place Maels vote at 7th and trees at 8th because of that, even though mael didn't get through until after tree.

To me, it's those two pile on votes that look scummy, particularly Tree. If tree had seen that mael was trying to vote to make it 7-5, then tree would have known that it's a lost cause and jumping on HH to lynch scum could have been a smoke screen.

On the other hand, mael could have attempted to try and save HH by voting Nem and trying it again at 6-6, but that is a gutsy move because nightfall was approaching at that point.

I'm totally with you on the singleton votes though.

I just skimmed through what happened after I left last night and don't have much time. I need to do some digging to reconcile Rick's RC in my own mind. There are the points I have made pre-nightfall, but I have seen a few things to make me think otherwise. I don't expect to be able to get on long enough to do the digging today it will have to wait until I get home.

One of the biggest problems I have was your "attempt to draw the hit" with the way you posted. (and your choice of timing to do it) That early in the game with the number of players we had it wasn't likely that scum would have found a PR yet.

If you could explain to me your thought process through this it would be appreciated and aid in my own checking.

Narwhal: Sorry it's just my opinion that the timing of your tie vote is pecular. even on Day 1 a scum voting for their team mate to distance themselves is a common practice in my experience.

UhOh: Random votes still kill PRs. Bad innocents are great for scum as they can draw a lynch away from them. So they won't hit innocents that the town already suspects. I was trying to be a suspect without being a top suspect, which worked until last night.

Chirp Chirp Chirp Chirp

Only 6 posts since I left this morning? The Town cannot win with low participation like this. My gut tells me to vote for Scoop or Driver based on how they saw the RC. But we need more input from the Town to make our best decision.

I'm not following your second paragraph there if you could clarify that. I know the question isn't for me but would still like to understand your logic.

Known innocent in green, known scum in purple. Yes, I am calling Rickets a known innocent since Haggis fought their claim and tried to refute what Rickets said with the block being used night 3. In my mind Rickets is telling the truth after the outcome of this nightfall.

Votes that stick out to me most:

  • Driver with the last minute vote drop without any sort of explanation on someone who was the obvious lynch.
  • O3T voting the same as known scum
  • Those who were not on Haggis
Votes on Haggis that stick out aside from Driver:

  • Nar was on early, may not have been able to back out. Need to look at their argument
  • Scoop for the same reasoning as Nar

I am just getting caught up on the game. Good job on getting BH and I think that it can be deemed that Rickets is the tracker. I think the above statement about me can be a little misleading. I was not voting with BH. My vote on Driver8 has nothing to do with BH. Driver8 is still my top suspect and would like to see him lynched. I need to arrange my suspect list. I also am suspect of those that do not believe Rickets is the tracker without an alternative. I am also suprised that I was the first one Rickets tracked.
