Mafia 94: When Gingers Attack; the play

I think you are behind, Wizard. It seems my posts about posting has been discussed to death. Maybe I've just been gone away for too long, or maybe I have just forgotten how complacent innocents can be. Perhaps it bothered some carrot tops that I encourage communication. I used to not last long in these games so I just want to get the momentum going is all.

I usually am behind as access is not something I usually have during the day so I just go through the days events usually after everyone has left.

Huh? Can you please explain what you mean by this? I'd be interested in knowing which people you are referring to...

JB listed 3 scum roles and when I asked for a clarification he said everything was written in the rules, or something to that effect, which to me means that all the roles given out are in the rules. It seems that he would have listed a "ginger" role had the game started with one, sort of like how "mafia" are listed as roles even if they don't have extra powers. Not saying there couldn't be four but I think three is still a safe assumption.

Wait...what am I doing?
im mostly talking about pirhana. he kepy going on and on about it.

Agree that extra time is better for the town. Day 1 is always slow and random. It takes time for us to pick up on subtleties that become real important later.

AAF, the scum already have more time to scheme. They can communicate all they need to without our knowledge. I'd say them having more time (48 hrs vs. 24 hrs) would actually give them time to overplay their game strategies. That benefits the town.

I disagree here. If there is at least one vet on the scum team, they would know better than to overplay and they could easily keep a noob in line. While I agree 24 hours is almost always better for the scum, I'm not so sure that 48 hours wouldn't be the same... Just my opinion.

DD's coment was a throw back to this past game when Lab called her out for "picking on a noob" DD turned out to be scum while AAF was innocent. That was why I put the LOL smiley. What I found odd was that I saw it as so obviously a joke, and Lab missed it... Not like Labby IMO.

That was just my general mood last night. Watch all you want, I'd be worried if you didn't think I warranted watching.

I disagree with your disagreement. As Chill later pointed out, keeping some noobs in line is very similar to herding cats. Some noobs are much easier to work with than others. AAF reminds me of a FF jr.

As to the second part, I didn't even associate what DD said with the last game, hence I totally missed the joke. In fact, I had to read what you wrote here a couple of times before it dawned on me what you were talking about.

I again disagree with this disagreement. It's so much easier for scum to hide when there is little going on. Little slip ups when lots is going on can be very helpful later in the game.

That part was a joke Pappy. He said I was confusing people and the way he worded it was funny to me so I jokingly noted that he was adding to the confusion.

So who do you consider "new" players Pir? Yourself? This game has a lot of experienced players in it.

This I wonder as well. I'd expect scum to blow over the player list, but that is not a very townie like thing to do.

Not to be mean but IMO, this "tactic" would be stoopid as it would draw added and unnecessary attention to a teammate. IME evils don't like drawing attention to themselves. There is always talk of the evils throwing a teammate under the bus to save themselves but I've never actually seen this. Only when all hope is lost do evils give up one of their own.

The roles of Groundskeeper Willie and the Blackmailer were nixed from the sign up thread, but I don't recall games where the total number of evil were known from the beginning. But with just 15 players 3 with a chance of 4 sounds like plenty, but then there are also 3 townie PR's...

Umm, if you read my entire post I clarified that the postings should be non "fluff". So nope, never asked for commotion, though sometimes we can learn even from commotion, which is better than no commotion at all.

It's never too early to start looking for scum to eliminate. Or do you like "pocket mafia"? Voting should be picking up as well as discussions of votes as tomorrow nite is the end of day one. I don't like voting haphazardly without seeing ppl's posts. Day one doesn't have to always be a crap shoot.

go// LOL, pocket mafia. Thought about Ogre, Ice, and Mad when I put my iphone in my pocket after posting on Mafia the other day. //go

See above. Also I'm a mom to two little boys, so I nag, and nag, and nag, and I'm lucky if they listen to me the third time. "Don't say I didn't tell you so, young man!" "I'm not talking just to hear myself talk, you know!"

I agree with this disagreement. As the game progresses much from earlier comes to light as the evils are hemmed in.

I'm not perfect?

Let me rephrase that: I feel a little bit better about YOU bc you are paying attention. Mafia don't need to pay close attention,... usually. Doesn't mean I trust you as at this point I suspect everyone.

I disagree with your statement that I was pointing fingers at low posters and gliders. I never said all low posters were evil, rather that little posting by townspeople gives the evils a chance to hide among us. It allows them to glide thru the game without making any waves. Without a good candidate to vote for, I usually vote for those who have added little to the game besides noncommittal and "fluff" posts. Sometimes ppl start perking up when they see their names bolded.

So AAF was going to save the world, now he is non existent.

2H was attacking with the wrong facts, Don Quixote kind of.

Pir seems to think knowing who is playing and talking is bad game play.

and Pap, Rat and Plants are disagreeing about would agreed with what.

This is good scotch, Chill thanks.

Wait...what am I doing?

Rich, where did you get Pappy and miss me? It seems like you are skimming! The game thread isn't even that long yet and does not require skimming to get through it. As someone else said before, the scum don't have to pay such close attention to things this early in the game...

can we please stop wih the agreeing to disagree to disagree to agree? its confusing me!!!

It's easier when you can actually see what the person had quoted. ;)

I don't recall ever being on an evil team with JL or ice, though I've been townie pr's with them. I recall a game I wasn't in but skimmed where ice and Z and/or HN stage attacked one another as evils but it was always expected for them to get into it. I agree it depends on personal playstyle.

Like I said, I missed the joke. I've got stuff on my mind (have to take the MS law exam in 2 weeks) so last mafia game wasn't in my thoughts when I read your series of posts.

Plant, how many games have you played previously? You seem like you know what's going on, you mention pocket mafia, yet you've never seen evils throw a scummate under the bus? Ice is known for doing that, as is JL. Evils draw attention to themselves all the time ime; it all depends on the player.

can we please stop wih the agreeing to disagree to disagree to agree? its confusing me!!!

I disagree. I think we should all agree that sometimes one needs to disagree in order to determine what is agreeable.

^LOL Zaffy!
