Mafia 96 Who Are You? Game Thread

tsk, tsk... bleeding for information the obvious way right out in the open. could you trust my list if i gave it to you?

reasoning? simple! i'm a skeptical person. i don't give my trust away easy. those on my "list" just so happen to have even less of my trust. my likelies if you wish.

nope. no way. sorry. i'm the new guy. i'm the one that can use anything i can get. no way i'm just spitting out a bunch of names. uh uh... :shakehead:

Who said anything about trusting your list, I just wanted to know who you are suspecting at this point. These lists even if they are just gut feelings do a tremendous amount for the town when it comes to lynching and how people vote and accordingly questioning why people voted the way they did.

I don't get why you feel that since you are new that you need to keep your opinions to yourself instead of sharing with the town when it could help get scum lynched. We all need all the information we can get in order to rid the town of scum.

well i really dont like how lab rat attacked me for a vote switch and then accusing me of not knowing who i voted for. kinda seems like shes looking for any small things(like forgeting to TYPE who i retracted) and trying to turn them into big things to distract the town.

The devil is in the details. That is how I find scum, I find things that do not make sense and then ask the person about them. Give me a believable answer and I move on to the next thing; give me a crap answer and I keep digging. Tell me, how does it help find scum if I don't look at small inconsistencies (and yours have been far from small btw).

accidentaly fogeting to put someones name when there were minutes left is not big.
Sure it is, especially when you later commented that retracting and changing your vote was so easy and only takes 50 seconds. If it's so easy, why be so sloppy about it. Many times moderators will not accept a retraction that does not specify who the vote was on for retraction. Therefore, your lack of putting a name down could have nullified your retraction. Sounds like a pretty big mistake to me.

Which is better, self preservation or helping the town? I guess it would depend which side you are on...;)
or how i perceive the game progressing at this moment.
In all seriousness withholding info isn't going to do any good. In reality it makes you look scummy and not pro-town, whatever your reasons may be.

The point of lists is to get a gauge of where the town stands and possibly point out and contradictions or weak reasons a player may have, which in turn can lead to scum. It's one of the best resources we have in these games which is why they are used often. Look to any past games and you will always see them used and see others trying to rip them to shreds.
i take a chance whether i make a list or not. that's evident at this point. i just don't trust scum and right now, they're the majority. i'm paying attention. when i feel comfy spewing my list of whos and whys, i will. right now, i just feel it's a risk i'm not in a position to take.

i said something (to jb) about trusting my list. it's early in the game. i suspect it's real easy to falsify a list or just throw in easy targets to throw others off track. question my vote all you want. i voted scum and he's gone now. now we've got to get the rest of the scum.

i don't get that when majority are scum how sharing my opinion with everything is going to be a majority townie benefit. if anything, by the numbers it would likely help the scum team more.

Why am I getting a deja vu feeling here? Were you not the one who told the mafia (as mafia) how to win the game during the SB 50/50 game?

Excuse me if I refuse to walk into that trap...

Yes but this is different. The strategy I'm talking about if laid out in plain sight is to easy to navigate around. Its really a simple strategy so I think you can all figure it out.

wasn't really the thought process. more akin to putting rational thought before rolling the dice in a craps game. thank g'ness i did, too.

you're becoming suspect asking that question. or did you truly not remember how the day ended?

yep a scum was lynched and 2 non participating players killed themselves off by not voting.

Anybody got any suggestions on a Halloween costumes for a group of three people, preferably movie based, that can be pulled together fairly simply?

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE!

Dun, it strikes me as odd that you keep referring to your list, and adding people to it. I can only speak for myself, but my list consists of everyone in the game who's initials aren't JB. I'm curious who's NOT on your list, and why?

I was thinking the same thing then I see Dag added a list of his own. I have no idea how anyone can have a list after 1 day of banter.

As of this moment AAF is the only one that really sticks out as vote worthy and I'm not sure if its scum or just inexperience at this point.

Dun, I think I see the point you're making. And in a normal game, where numbers actually mattered I might even agree with you. But in this game it's not about numbers. It's not about finding "scum" it's about finding "the scum"... if you get my subtle nuance. Sharing who you think is acting scummy and why can only help the other townies have more perspectives to look at. At this point in the game, the scum are largely impotent. They may (although highly unlikely) have one hit, but they do not have enough votes to swing the vote their way. The more information we share now, can only help the town.

In that vein:

I'm highly suspicious of AAF. His vote switch seems like it was pressured, and the only place I can see that pressure coming from is trying not to draw attention when FF got lynched.

I'd like to hear waaaaay more from MC. It seems like he just disappeared. I understand having a rough schedule and all, but I think there are one or two questions still floating around out there for him.

Zaffy. Not much input really so far, and I'm not going to let him drop off the radar if I can help it.

In a normal setup yes this is the way to do it. But this is a hybrid of a 50/50 and team building game of sorts. No one knows who is there team mate, everyone that voted FF could be scum.

This game is pretty much going to be a crapshoot until teams start being built, then and only then will we be able to somewhat treat it as a normal setup.
