Mafia Game #4 The Play

I’ve read and re-read everything, so here are my questions and thoughts… only one disclaimer, I’m starting a long weekend and may be a bit “tipsy”.

Another mafia down. The rest of the mafia are in disarray. We have handed them a devastating blow early on. They are scattered and desperate!!!

I vote to lynch Coler.

This seems really early in the day to throw out a vote (even though I think it may be well targeted). I read every post in this game over and I’ve yet to see any reasons behind your posts, just good role-playing and a single paragraph in each.

Just to keep things even... I vote to lynch KOTD.

I don't like how everyone is voting early. I don't like how everytime I post my list of thoughts, that everyone accuses me of being suspicious.

Comon guys, did you read the list? I marked them as innocent or mafia. Once that's done, I don't care what their number is. Good grief.

Now, before everyone goes into super lynch mode, please consider why Sovran would have been lynched. Was it a retaliation for finger pointing? Or was it something to try and draw us off the scent?

Personally, I think the latter. The mafia are trying anything to get attention away from The List. I'm still don't agree 100% with The List (Hooked Newbie for example), but I do agree with KOTD.

As I see it there are 2 votes each for KOTD and Coler at this time. Let's try to keep things even so that we can gain some information.

I thought yesterday was pretty useful and I'd like to keep that trend.

I like the idea of keeping things open early. We have plenty of time to focus and get another, but we really need input and thoughts about the next one down the line. The Mafia is playing checkers, let’s play chess.

I think we were short several votes last night, and I'd like to see who they were. One could say they had no reason to vote as it was obvious what our plan was, but note voting only casts doubt on your character. We need to continue the momentum, I have no problem with voting early this day as there are several strong candidates. So before there is a band or wagon I vote to lynch bkw1982. Afterall, best to get the names out early so everyone has time to review.

Who did NOT vote last night? I think this is a really good question that went by the wayside somehow.

man this game is sooooo much fun!!!! my poor fish must miss me!!! i feed them and count them then run to the computer. man i'm a geek. anyhow being my first game i don't feel as though i've been as helpful to the town as i would have liked to be, and in fact at this point have basically let the more experienced townies lead and i have followed. I trust Z and judge and know they are innocent and influential townies, and i carefully consider both of thier opinions. Sorry to bandwagon. Will try harder not to in mafia #5!!!

For someone who “runs to the computer”, you really haven’t posted much thought or reason. Just a lot of head banging Smilies… I’m guilty of relying on the more experienced as well, but as much because of time constraints as anything else. You seem to have the time so I wonder…. Why just follow without at least posting your thoughts?

Because we are looking for people whom we do not trust. We know that there are mafia who are flying under our radar screens. These are people who are listened to, yet play well enough to be able to claim innocence. I am well aware that many believe that I may be mafia, with jpappy starting off the "let's watch Jensons" crowd. At that point, I had only posted 4 times, 2 of which were basically non-game related. This is a classic mafia move, turning people to watch innocents. Please feel free to watch me, feel free to accuse me- the only person whose status you can be certain of is your own. I, for one, know that I am a townie. TTFN!

Not that you’re wrong at all, but why follow instead of coming to your own conclusions? Again, I’ve relied a lot on the other townies, but I still put thought into it and have never blindly followed anyone. I voted for NOLA on the first day regrettably, but that was only after switching my vote from Mee-mee after DD did when it was clear that our votes wouldn’t matter. I voted for CL the second day and Mee-mee the third. Who’d you vote for? Just so that I can review…

My thoughts are that CL and MM's games weren't as bad as they seemed and that they were in fact being lead to play as they did by the Don. Nothing like a few sure fire Mafia to throw everyone off the trail of the Don. Heck CL threw out almost everyone in the game's name at least once. But neither he or MM ever even acknowledged you as far as I can tell.

Interesting observation… hadn’t though about things along those lines…

KOTD, I may be off here, but other than defending yourself, I don't see any major contributions from you.

I agree. Let’s see some of your suspicions and thoughts. From what I’ve read, you’re an experienced and smart player. I’d like to have your input if you want to help the town.

Yes, he did come in late with that vote for Nola just as votes for CL was picking up.

As stated above…. I voted for NOLA on the first day regrettably, but that was only after switching my vote from Mee-mee after DD did when it was clear that our votes wouldn’t matter. Read my posts at least please. DD and I had MM pegged, but everyone was split between CL & Nola… I read wrong and chose Nola….

More than a single line agreement might help the town out a bit more. Don’t just throw something out there agreeing with the latest post. And truthfully, I’d like to see your opinions. You seem smart, but I haven’t really seen any substantive posts from you.

To keep ppl from being lazy and just riding ppl to the end i suggest that instead of doing the coping post and pasting that you just put the post number and you reasoning. if futher explanation is needed you can go into detail. I hope this will atleast force ppl to go back and read and form their own conclusions not just piggy back on others. IMO of course.

Sov getting hit last night bugs me for a couple of reasons. Either, as others have said, it seems kind of random like they were playing Battleship trying to score a hit. Or they are trying to rapidly distance themselves from other’s lists and since I was named on her’s and was the only person to question her at all about a post, decided to try to divert attention my way.

I’ll post my suspicions of the top 3-5 tomorrow, they are pretty close to the “lists” with an exception or two that I think may be lurking out there avoiding any attention.

Honestly, Hooked newbie , to me, poses a threat, but not as much as coler and KOTD, I fear both of them, esp being mafia, they are both extraordinary players,They are equally dangerous..I will again say, that the vigilante role in this game concerns me, I am feeling a bit better, about this persons posts as of late though! seems to have settled a lil more to the side of the town, ..I am still at a huge loss as to who the mayor is, and thats an excellent thing, ..My biggest worry about the mayor is that the mafia will find him/her shortly, because they have had several investigations, and the tops will be investigated first, ..so DR. please pay careful attention, I hope you have an idea! i DON'T ENVY YOU IN YOUR JOB!

Coler - I have had a hunch this whole game. You havent been playing like you did before. You are playing a little like when you were the detective...but I know you're not the detective...maybe the mayor? Nah doubt it. You would prolly be more vocal if you were the mayor. So that least one more thing...Mafia.

and KOTD - sorry guy...i just see what everyone else sees.

did I mention that I think Jensons vague suggestion of mafia guilt on jpappy (which I brought up and asked for an explanation) is also suspicious...because for whatever reason no one else jumped on...I think jensons and jpappy were just playing along with each other, taking relatively tame pot shots. I therefore also think Jensons has a case to answer and is worth voting for for that reason.

As far as I'm concerned, this makes you VERY mafia. I have run through Hooked Newbie and I think a lot of others have as well and consider him pretty innocent.


Hooked, I liked your post, but a little context would be good. You quoted Zsandmann talking about someone, but who was he talking too?

It seems you have done alot of work Newbie, but the bulk of it is only intended to deflect any guilt from yourself and to try to get a snowball rolling somewhere else. I'm ashamed to say, the townies have done a wonderful job outing you and your mates without much help from me, and i would make a terrible detective.

OK, I want to see a real discussion on Hooked Newbie. I think we have a group that thinks innocent and a group that thinks him mafia.

My basis for innocence is a complete review of his post (listed back in the thread) and I really didn't see any posts, series of posts, or patterns. He seems to be a follower (at least early game) and the recent post, while somewhat random at least brought up some good points.

Dissenting views please.
