Mafia Game #4 The Play

/game off

I'll be traveling as well and will check in as I can. I don't see my vote changing for any reason at this point.

BTW: I'm going to Fish R Us Houston... the largest (self proclaimed) cichlid dealer in Texas. Can't wait.

/game on

1) My only protest is about lack of character development throughout the game and that the few people who do decide to do any character development are falsely accused of being mafia. There's too much weight in the game put on posting activity and speculation instead of anything viable.

2) The switch from CL to Ice then to Ogre was based more on how I interpret what they are writing. Just like people have poorly interpreted my character development as me being mafia because "surly" is evidently over their heads.

My primary reason for switching to Ogre is that he looked to me like he was trying to sway the voting without being too obvious. That to me comes across as a stealth mafia move and likely the move of the Don. Yes, Ogre is an experienced player and he probably has everyone, including me, fooled as to what his actual role is. It was a subtlety that caught my attention.

My vote change from CL to Ice before my vote change to Ogre was phishing as I said before. I was looking for someone to come out and defend one way or the other. DD and NJ didn't flinch when I pointed the finger at them. The ones that did evidently have something to hide.

I could have just stuck with lynching CL, but I wanted to generate more activity right off to get the ball rolling on the next lynching.

So, that said, either do some character development or lynch me because I'm about to go drink a lot and do some tricks on my Harley because this is currently very boring.

I'd like to point out it was a mere 20 minutes from Nolas post

CL I agree may have gotten too excited about being mafia finally and tried to go up with a front right off.

Ogre I am very suspect of because he comes across trying to work with the town. It's like he's trying to direct the voting. He may be the the mayor though.

Sandy making himself a target is likely a front. I'd be voting for him to be lynched if I hadn't voted for CL.

I think either DD or NJ is the vigilante or maybe the "Don."

Ice I'm fairly certain is mafia. It's only a hunch based on manner of posting.

Pete traded his Hemi 'Cuda for a '67 GTO Hardtop.

to his final vote of the night:

See my last post. I'm exploring just like you guys are. It's called phishing. It looks like I've gotten a bite or two.

Ogre and Ice are high on my mafia list.

DD and NJ I was just using you two as bait. No hard feelings I hope.

Vote change: Lynch Ice Remove vote for CL

3 votes in 20 minutes then apologizes to DD and NJ for using them as bait. What really gets me is this part of this mornings post

It was only 20 minutes, did they even have time to protest?

Is this even a protest or a defense or is it more of asking for an explanation:

Why think I'm mafia if you are pretty certain CL and zman are mafia. Why would I throw them under the bus that quickly?

I have to say Nola is pretty confused. Don't know if its 1st game jitters or mafia cover up with wild finger pointing to make us question other innocents.

Makes me want to rethink my CL vote.

*I'll also be gone most of the day starting around noon. I'm going up to Concords Nascar speedtrack and race go carts all day long.*

Sorry for not posting more, still having problems with my wireless internet.

I think the roleplaying does add amusement to the game and to each his own. However, it seems to me Nola's character was a bit more than just surly as he sparred with NeonJ. Challenging ppl and making threats, smells a bit like Mafia. And his gameplay makes me nervous as well, naming who he suspects is the mayor and all. And with all the changing of votes, which he's tried to explain, but not very well.

For the moment though, I'm still leaning towards CL. He just seemed too overeager to proclaim innocence and if he's been lynched in the past for similar reasons, he should have known the target he was painting on himself. I'm not voting quite yet. Still waiting on what develops today.

I started my character development by saying that I was surly. I thought maybe the definition would help understand the character development. Your shallow pegging me as mafia without anything to back it up is sad at best. The lack of character development with the other characters is boring. You can go ahead and lynch me, but you'll be lynching a townie.

Here's the thing, Pete. All of this 'character development,' although maybe a little fun on the first day, does nothing with regard to proving someone's guilt or innocence. In this game, there are 18 townies and 6 liars.....the object of the game is to find the liars (not to write screenplays). To say that 'character development' would even give a hint of guilt or innocence is silly. If it weren't, you might be reading something like this about madcrawdad:

"madcrawdad is tenderly dusting each of his 35 good citizenship awards when the clock strikes 5:30. He carefully folds the rag and places it neatly in the drawer, next to his Boy Scout merit badges. He turns and gently nuzzles each of his two kittens, then heads toward the door. He'd better get moving if he wants to make it to church by 6:00..."

See where I'm going here? I must be an innocent, right? My character development sure points that way. When all is said and done, character development says nothing with regard to whether someone is a townie or a liar....LIARS WILL LIE. It's a person's actual behavior that gives clues regarding their status in the game.

The fact that you threw a bunch of names out there and then started acting awfully jumpy when called on it, is what's helping folks form an opinion. Pretty sure that nobody is holding your 'surly' character development against you at this point. On day 1, there's usually not all that much to go on, and folks need to key in on what they have.

just a thought...

game off.....

I have read a lot on the Mafia game in the last 4 weeks. There are many versions, some face to face, others online that are all but continuous. Some encourage the role playing and others don't.

Some people like it and some don't. Seems pretty much 50/50 from what I can tell on here.

I think a little bit of character development is fine. To me, you are more likely to slip up, but I find it entertaining.

:grinyes:

jeez nolapete...you make it hard not to vote for you (just read Ice's analysis) !

this will be last post before I travel and I don't believe in not voting; only helps the mafia...I vote to lynch Nolapete

As I said, I think I have a decent case against someone. It's not rock solid, but it's the best I've got so far.

I mentioned two names at the beginning to say, these are good players and need to be checked. That's true, but I also wanted to see if anyone would jump on them with little or no reason... which someone did.

I personally think it's the kind of thing a newbie mafia member might try. "hmmm... good player, let's see if we can get rid of them without having to work at it." I also notice that this player has posted little or nothing since the vote.

With that in mind, I vote to lynch judgemax.

As far as my other suspicions are going... I count the following as needing further watching:
bkw1982
Cory Lover
Dangerdoll
johnlarson
madcrawdad
nolapete

These are just based on minimal information... consistency with past postings, interactions with others, etc. IceH2O might be on that list, but he's been very consistent with prior games. As has Fishlady22. I've already stated my beliefs that ZSandmann is probably an innocent as well.

There you go. Have at it.

I am ok with you voting for me, The whole reason I chose NJ, and PETE is because of the way they acted, and as soon as I called them on it, they stopped, I should also note, that petes avatar, which has since changed, used to read "how do you like those knee caps", I also would like to point out, that the whole reason I chose her first, was just to start conversation, and talking, just the same as everyone else has. I stated my reasons for them...And if you read petes first posts, they also threaten NJ, Those are my two hunches...If you choose to lynch me, thats ok, I will not proclaim my innocence a hundred times, If I do, I will look like I am guilty, So here it is, I am innocent, and I will not say it again..take it for what you want...:) I also may be new to this game, on this board, but I have played many times before, in other places...

(*I have not posted recently, because I have 5 dogs, two kids, and am trying to get finishing touches done for a float, for a parade that is tom. in the next two days, I am sure I won't be posting near as often as I would like to..however, as long as I survive, I can assure you, I will post more, yesterday was WC day to, i have 7 tanks up! thats a project in itself! )

I don't believe Nolapete is mafia. Completely don't believe it. Why? Because I think the bad boy act is just that.

just to reiterate my point here....

I just don't know what to say?..boy, pete, you are just pointing them right out!
I am just flabbergasted..:eek3:

Charlie Stubbs is nobodies fool. He knows what he must do. If he can discover the mafia before they take over his beloved town he may finally have a chance to win the coveted good citizenship award. "**** you Madcrawdad!!!", he exclaims, pounding his fish on the weather beaten desk. He is tired of always being one upped by Madcrawdad, a bitter rival since Boy Scouts. Madcrawdad's tireless work at the church. Madcrawdad's reading to the blind. Charlie decided he must find the mafia before Madcrawdad and show this town that he wasn't just a washed up loser wilting in the great Madcrawdad's shadow. Wouldn"t it be great if that weasley do-gooder actually turned out to be part of the mafia??? Charlie Stubbs certainly hoped so.
