Mafia Game #4 The Play

Right now I'm a little concerned about Jensons. Four quick posts, three of which were a bit odd (check post #404 for my explanation). She also hasn't posted for a while...I'm probably just a little paranoid...

You are being silly! I haven't posted much because a) posting a "well, that was interesting" is not very productive b) there are too many posts for me to be able to go back and quote everything that I would want to c) half the time you see me "lurking" at the bottom of the thread, it is my husband checking out this crazy game I keep playing.

I feel that my reasons for voting for Nola were very sound. I did not feel "sorry" for him, but rather I really hate when people are poor sports. It would have been odd to have him playing with us (if he decided to rejoin) when he didn't really lilke to play. No one likes a sulky playmate. If he was mafia, and playing us as others thought may have been the case, then my vote would have been for the good of the town.

I will have to re-read my posts to see what sounded "odd" to you. I post when I feel like I have something constructive to say.

I am going to take a bath and finish an incredibly great book. I will reread from just before the lynching and post my top 3 mafia suspects, with reasons, after I am done with my book and my dinner.

corey lover, your reasons for being innocent are very weak. I agree with NJ, you basically dug yourself into a hole. If you are innocent and the Don decides to waste an investigation on you, you will be whacked if you are the mayor for sure, which isn't helping the town at all. And since you are the suspected mafia right now, it looks like you are gunna be lynched anyways. Pointing fingers at mee-mee then KOTD when they refute your claims, not helping you either.

Jensons, I'm confused. You suspected Nola of being mafia then you post this:

I vote to lynch Nolapete. I know who I will change to if he has, in fact, pm'd rb. For right now, I think that the bad attitude alone should bump him from the game. If he decided not to pm, and he tries to come back, I would be disheartened to play with him.

Maybe some mafia plans were pm'ed to you and you put on your act. Trying to get us to vote Nola rather than a real mafia member...just a hunch...

The best reason to suspect I'm innocent is that my post doesn't matter if I'm innocent or mafia, but only that it's a good idea that will help the town.

Personally, I'm undecided about Cory Lover. I don't get a lot of mafia vibe from him, but where there's smoke there's fire. I think he's going to be lynched today... if not, then he'll be got by the mafia tonight.

We must be prepared to implement a better plan than everyone lynching one player tomorrow. If the mafia are willing to give him up... that's great it'll be 3-1 us and them. If not, then we're down to almost 2-1 tomorrow. And the don will have investigated 6 of us.

I could be WAY off base, but I find this post sort of alarming. Someone earlier mentioned that "guiding us subtly" was a mafia tactic.

I have also re-read 90% of the entire game and find Max's posts quite worrisome (217 - 219 & 360). It seems that you guys are trying to protect CL which makes me suspect him more and worry about you. I still vote to lynch Cory Lover.

Here's what I find alarming, Newb, and I won't be so subtle. Three people have essentially dropped from the game (Nolapete, '13', and GuppyGuppyFish). The game was set up so that there was 1 mafia player for each 3 innocents. The fact that 3 probable innocents (can't be positive on GGF, though) just boogied before the first lynch leaves an extra mafia player just 'out there'. That coupled with the detective being whacked could really screw the town.

IMO townies really need to start playing smart RIGHT NOW. A quick knee-jerk vote for Cory Lover isn't smart in my opinion. He declared himself an innocent? Re-read the thread. At least 5-6 other folks also claimed they were innocents. I'm not saying that Cory Lover can't be mafia, but if you want to lynch him, give a real reason. For those on the warpath to avenge Ice, let's look at Ice's argument for lynching CL, and decide if he was getting 'too close':

Well since the Cory Lover train looks like its gaining steam we need to make it official with bold print.

My vote for Cory Lover is solely based on his innocent cover. It just looks to much like a cover to me. I don't know why anyone wants to come right out and say they are innocents. I would think the mafia would want to remove those people 1st. Get rid of those us innocents think are innocent so its harder to figure out who is guilty.

Just bad gameplay IMO.

Then came this one where IceH2O makes a case to lynch Nolapete. Ice maybe isn't so sure about CL.

I have to say Nola is pretty confused. Don't know if its 1st game jitters or mafia cover up with wild finger pointing to make us question other innocents.

Makes me want to rethink my CL vote.

Looks like Ice was playing a hunch like everyone else, and to those who think he was getting 'too close,' I say you're likely wrong.

Now, with that being said, I'm not saying that CL can't be mafia. Just that the case is VERY weak at this time. As JL66 points out, though, the simple fact that CL would hint that he is mayor makes him a mafia target, and his role useless to the town if he's telling the truth. If you want to lynch CoryLover, build a real case, as I think there are better mafia targets out there which I'll cover in another post soon.
