Mafia Games....

I'm torn on the issue of allowing teammates to continue communication after they are killed off.

One one hand, they are dead so it makes sense that they shouldn't still have influence in the game.

But, on the other hand, I think it keeps the fun in the game for people who get killed off early. That was my whole intention with Ghost Chat in my first game. I do have an issue with copying posts from dead players and posting them in the game thread. I think that breaks the spirit of the "dead can't talk" rule.

As far as RCing, I don't see a problem with it. I think it's viable and part of the game.
 
I liked being able to talk after being killed after the first night (which now stands at two games in a row :silly:)...but it seems more reasonable to let dead people be dead and leave it at that so nothing like this ever arises again.
 
Wait...so you are implementing the one retraction rule for votes? I don't agree with that...just promotes mod laziness ;)

I don't remember playing that game (maybe I was one of the UDs)...I'm personally not a fan of having the PRs with powers communicate from the start but maybe that is just me. I suppose if you add in a no RCing rule it would make it more fair for the snitches.

I also think turns should only happen when there are no hits. Having both makes the game more complicated than it needs to be...
I am thinking about it, it's been a while since we did anything like that. It is nice to change things up a bit. It makes ya think quite a bit before voting or retracting. I will be keeping up with the game, has nothing to do with ease for the Mod, just one of the rules I kinda liked.

I was in the game, but really I don't remember much about it. As far as them being able to communicate from the start, I most likely will keep it at that. Although, I do like the rule when the "protection" can only be once per player. I may make it twice...but I don't like when they can protect the same person every night.

There will be no turns, just the first night turn...which I'm not even sure I will do that, I may just make the teams and that will be that.

As far as the hits, I would like input on if others like it to be every night, or should it be changed to every other night? Also...what do others think about not being able to change the hit name, once it is sent in it sticks, if the person picked for the hit ends up lynched they loose their victim? If I did that though, I think they should still be every nightfall.

Personally, I think once dead....they are dead.

That is why I like the "you can only protect a person once" rule, if RCing is in the game they would think twice about coming out. Which I agree RCing is part of the game.

Yes, it is fun to feel like you are still part of the game, but really to other players that are NC it isn't fair...they have no way to "stay in the game".

I am thinking of how I would like to the rules to be, and will most likely post in the morning. Any other thoughts, comments are welcome and of course once I post it they still are. There is no way to make everyone happy, but all thoughts will be taken in consideration.
 
GAH, I forgot...the hit/invest thing, I'm thinking they get one or the other. They send in the 2 names, one for invest, one for hit...random as to which they get. This would happen each nightfall.
 
It's your game and your rules, but I'm of the opinion that adding all these new rules just makes the game more complicated in an unnecessary way.

Yes, people should take the time to think about votes/hits but things in the game sometimes pop out of nowhere and I think it is unfair for people not to be able to switch when they want to for whatever reason. I personally don't want to see any "well I WOULD vote so-and-so but I can't" posts. Especially when it comes to the hit since people's schedules are not always mafia friendly...what if their first choice is the lead vote getter by the end of the day? I can see if they made the decision knowing they may not have the time to change it but they should be given the opportunity.

I did this in the cabin fever games. Noticed that the evils hardly ever used the investigations if it meant not getting hits, which are much more valuable since it's a numbers game. Getting the det/doc is great but it just makes more sense to fish for PRs rather than waste time searching for them. You have just as much of a chance hitting them as investigating them anyways.
 
I think a "save all" is too much. Someone being protected from a hit is actually a pretty powerful move for the town as it gives them a confirmed innocent. I think it's something you should have to work for.

Is the vote block a one time thing, or daily?

Yeah, I don't think I will do the "save all" thing. I can see where it could be interesting, but not sure about it really. Although, if it was a one time thing and if used they can no longer save anyone...it could see it working, but I think for this game I'd leave it out. Very possible for a future game though, maybe one with "turns" or something it would work out nice.

I'm really not sure on the block vote thing, I sure wouldn't let it be every night...but not sure how I give it out? I do think the NC should be the ones with it, or each team gets ONE per game.

Ice...help me with this one please, how exactly would I do it? I do like the thought, just not sure how to add it in and be fair.

They are not new rules, they are ones in the original game that I'm not sure of.
The one where they can't change their "hit/invest" though is something I thought of, and was wondering what others thought of it.

As far as the hit/invest thing...they wouldn't get a choice which they got, it would be random as to which they get, some nights it may be the hit others it may be the invest. I just don't think they should get both every night.
 
Well, I guess I mean "new" in the sense that they are rules that haven't stuck around in the more recent games. I just do not think it would be fun to not be able to switch your vote or hit. Kind of like the vote in your first post rule...just unnecessary.

As for the random thing, IMO that works well when there are two evil teams. But do we really want the game to be stretched out because "randomly" they got investigation results three nights in a row?

IMO the mafia have no need for investigations anyways and should just get hits.

Oh, LMAO....that was the original rule for the snitches, they don't get both each night, it is one or the other.
