Don't Be Stupid ------ was designed for the delight of our more hardcore mafia players. Beginners are welcome, of course, just make sure you don't take anything said about you personally. We really never mean it. Honest!
Relax. It's only a game, by criminy. We all love and greatly admire you down deep! (Some, deeper than others!)
A word of caution, however: Lurkers won't survive very long -- not past a single game day, in fact! And an excessive amount of skimming is highly discouraged. (Just know the rules, if nothing else.)

Mafia 104 - Don’t Be Stupid
Welcome to the happy little town of ACville. The sun shines brightly and the residents begin to go about their day. As long as you keep your wits about you and make your wits public, everything will be fine. Do not fear.
It is common knowledge that 1 among you can investigate someone each night, and 1 among you can protect someone each night (but not protect themself). It is also common knowledge that there exists certain undesirables among you who want the rest dead.
Don’t be stupid. Read the rules completely and let the games begin!
Game Mechanics
-- This format was shamelessly stolen from someplace else and all the rules are contained in this post. Don't be stupid; make sure you know them.
-- This is - first and foremost - a GAME. As such, it should be fun for all who play. Seriously, if you're purposely causing the game not to be fun, you might as well just die anyway. Trust me, we won't miss you.
-- No stupid questions are allowed, lest ye be mod-killed. Any question you ask the mod in the game thread must be vital to the dynamics of the game and must not something that can be answered in the thread already or just by reading the rules once more. If you aren’t sure if you should ask the mod a question, don’t ask it. I am not joking about the mod-kill thing.
-- Similarly, people who obviously don’t know what they are doing will be mod-killed. As will anyone who tries to play in a way that is stupid. Note: Usually, a player will only be killed if they do something "stupid" and it somehow does not hurt them. If a player does something stupid and gets jumped on for it, I'll probably let them live. What can I say, I like catfights. Peer pressure works wonders, too.
-- It is hereby declared that it's NOT STUPID for newbies or first-time players (if there are any) to ask questions related to game play. On the contrary, it would be stupid not to, don't you agree?
--You MUST make at least 3 useful, game-related posts every game day. The term useful is TOTALLY subjective and up to a determination by the mod. A public tally will not be posted so you will have to judge for yourself whether a post is useful or not. Less than 3 useful posts a day means you die whence evening comes. When in doubt... go for 4 useful posts per game day, if necessary, just to play it safe.
-- Failing to meet a deadline for a night choice results in elimination. For example, if the mafia fails to send in their hit before night falls, that would be stupid and the entire mafia team dies. Go town. Same rule applies for Townie PRs.
-- All night choices should be sent via PM, as should (non-stupid) questions relating to the game you don't wish to ask in the thread. If it's important to all, I will post it.
-- Please note that if your death is, shall we say, less than noble... the reason for it will be posted for all to see at the time of your death.
-- Everything stays in the game, no PMing people and setting up deals or alliances or discussing issues in this game on other sites. The sole exception is the authorization by me for special role players to do so.
-- You may say whatever you want in the game so long as it's not stupid, but you can't 'prove it' with my PM to you. Keep in mind that role claims are stupid. Yes.... very, very stupid. There, I said it. Don't even think about it.
-- Each game day, everyone must vote to lynch someone. All votes must be bolded and posted in the form I vote to lynch so-and-so. If you wish to change your vote, your retraction must include both the name of the player you voted before and the name of the player you wish to vote instead. You may not vote for no one or for yourself. Do not put your vote in your signature.
-- Whoever has the most votes gets lynched. If you have two and everyone else has one; you will die. If multiple people are tied for a lynch, I will use a random generator to determine which one dies.
-- If you do not vote each game day, you are exceptionally stupid and you will die an untimely death in a very stupid (and most embarrassing) manner. You deserve to die and I promise you won't like it.
-- Unless authorized to do so, no one is allowed to discuss the game outside of the thread. That's kind of the point. If you are discussing things, then everyone else doesn't get the benefit of your deliberation. Think town hall rather than internet chat room.

The Roles
Townies -- As always, townies are innocent and pure of heart. They possess no special powers other than voting someone every game day for each night's lynch.
Detective -- The detective is innocent and can do one investigation each night to seek out evil. If they find the doctor, both may communicate outside the game thread.
Doctor -- The doctor is innocent and hopes to save the day. They can protect someone from the mafia hit each night. They may not protect themself. If they are found by the detective, both may communicate outside the game thread.
Mafia -- The mafia team is corrupt to the core. They are sick to death of all the icky-sweet niceties that surrounds them in this picturesque little town. They get 2 investigations that must be used on Night 2 and Night 3, respectively. Each night, they may hit the innocent of their choosing.
Role assignments were made using a random number generator.
The mafia wins when they outnumber the town. The town wins when they have eliminated the mafia.
The priority of nighttime happenings is:
Town Lynch
Doctor's Protection
Mafia Hit
Untimely Deaths

Yeah, I just don't watch tv very often. My coworkers all say that I'm a giant version of Sheldon. I don't need to watch the show if I'm already that guy. I assume Horatio is from CSI, my ex girlfriend used to watch that all the time. I thought it was dumb.
