Found a nice, secluded area with access to Mahoning Creek today. I set up a minnow trap, and left it for a couple of hours. I caught around 5-7 little fish. I also put on the waders and looked around a bit. I kept seeing sculpins, but could never catch one! I love sculpins, but I've never managed to catch one. Too darn fast.
Anyway, here are pics of the fish. Any help IDing these would be greatly appreciated.
And for anyone who might be worried, all these fish were kept in a bucket with a bubbler, photographed, and then released. :)

This is the first type of minnow-like fish.

Juvenile sunfish I'm pretty sure.... any ideas on the species?

That is one unhappy fish. Look, it's even scowling.

Anyways, cool fish.

Lol, yeah, he was not happy. He would tense up all his muscles and flare out his fins, holding that pose for a moment, then flipping about with all his might. He reminded me of a little betta.

I think he might have been a juvenile pumpkinseed sunfish.

wow pretty nifty makes me wanna go out exploring

I'm sure that minnow #2 is a shiner, but I'm not sure on the type. According to the PA Fisheries, "Shiners of the Susquehanna River and its tributaries include the comely, satinfin, spottail, swallowtail, rosyface, spotfin and mimic.."

Oh, and also the Common Shiner, which is a good candidate. Gotta start the elimination process.

Based on obvious physical differences, I can only eliminate the Satinfin and the Spottail. So, it could be a common, comely, swallowtail, rosyface (unlikely), spotfin or mimic.
