Found a nice, secluded area with access to Mahoning Creek today. I set up a minnow trap, and left it for a couple of hours. I caught around 5-7 little fish. I also put on the waders and looked around a bit. I kept seeing sculpins, but could never catch one! I love sculpins, but I've never managed to catch one. Too darn fast.
Anyway, here are pics of the fish. Any help IDing these would be greatly appreciated.
And for anyone who might be worried, all these fish were kept in a bucket with a bubbler, photographed, and then released.
This is the first type of minnow-like fish.
Same type, another shot.
Closeup of face.
The second type of minnow-like fish.
Longnose dace?
Longnose dace? Another shot.
Face of possible longnose dace.
Juvenile sunfish I'm pretty sure.... any ideas on the species?
Another shot.
