Maybe a Dojo Loach????????

If you were to follow a pretty strict regimen of tank maintenance and water changes you could probably add a dojo if you were inclined too, but I wouldnt add one if your not up to the maintenance.

I have three dojos and they spend all of their time at the surface of the aquarium! They didn't until I got a serious population of floating leaves on my plants. Now they spend all of their time hiding in the leaves and even climb on top of them with the upper half of their body out of the water searching for food that has gotten caught.

I hear that. I have three kuhlis in my five gallon, and one almost never leaves the top two inches of water.

It's actually kind of strange. Two of the kuhlis are identically sized, but the third, the loner, is much, much smaller. I suspect he might be of slightly different sub-species/genus or whatever, but I can't tell for sure. All three look like banded kuhlis to me.

I have a water wisteria that was the official first inhabitant of my five gallon tank, and it didn't do well at first. I started to die slowly, and eventually rotted through at the base of the stem and began to float. My bulb burnt out though, so I found a nice compact flourescent that would fit my hood, and before I knew it, the floating stem was throwing off roots and leaves like crazy. Now, I have a giant ball of floating wisteria. The loner kuhli lives in that. Sometimes you won't see him for days, but then you'll see him slithering through. Surprisingly, as I look over, I now see him on the gravel, which is very rare. I just did a water change and probably ticked him off. He's actually the kuhli in my avatar picture.

Also... you seem to be somewhat conflicted in your choice of inhabitants. Your decorations and background are almost entirely saltwater and the inhabitants freshwater. Aren't you afraid you might cause a lot of confusion for the poor fish? :grinyes:

LOL. It never crossed my mind that I might be confusing the H*ll out of my poor goldies. LMAO.

I do keep up with my maitance. I schedule one day out of every week and do all of them then. Also every other day when I get home from work my routine usually runs like this: Kiss Husband and go straight to tanks for water testing.
My hubby tells me that I spend more time starring off into my tanks than I do with him. I just laugh and tell him I don't talk trash about his hunting stuff so leave me and my tanks out of it. He agrees.

The decor in this tank is mainly that "real coral" that is the brand name, it is soft flexiable stuff so if they run into it, it just bends. I figured that would be best for the fatty goldfish, since they sometimes have problems navigating.

Well from all the suggestions and ideas and concerns, I have made up my mind that I will be preparing for the dojo's. When I get them this thread will come back to life with some pics. I plan to do a little rescapein too. (I am going to keep them confused though.) LOL.
