Ok. I've never used a canister filter before. I've got all the media in the way it goes, but the tubes and connectors have me completely stumped.

I tried using this guide: http://www.rexgrigg.com/Eheim Classic Canister instructions.htm, but it has me stuck on step number 2, where it tells me to have the connectors going in opposite directions. They do not GO in opposite directions. Those ends do not fit together. So now I'm not sure what to do? The instructions that came with the Eheim may as well have not been translated from their original German. And I will say that I am about the most mechanically challenged person there is on this board... so... help me!!

I'm so stuck! :duh: :nilly:

So it turns out I figured it out on my own! Instructions should apparently be ignored since they don't help. But I managed to get it up and running. Only problem now is the hornwort I put in today is falling apart everywhere and I'm afraid it's going to clog the filter. I put a nylon stocking over the intake for now. Hopefully it will settle down soon! I let it settle earlier and vacuumed the tank and got pretty much all of it off the bottom, but the plant itself seems to be exploding from the force of the filter... and silent! Wow! :)

hornwort will loose its needles/leaves when placed in a different tank/different water condt.

good luck!!!!!!!

goodluck with your filter. Eheims are awesome.

Hornwort is a PITA! I hate it so much It almost ruined my filter so I took it all out.

how much light do you have over your tank?

you may have seasonal hornwort. if you do kiss it goodbye right around this time of year. if not then something might be off if it's falling apart. lighting or ferts would have to be it considering it's floating and therefore theorhetically getting all the co2 it needs.

hornwort has a reputation for making a mess regardless. good luck.
