Mellow relaxing fish to watch

I consider loaches mellow.;) They're far entertaining to watch clicking and battling at each other. I have three tanks with loaches as the main focus.:D

I'll put in my vote for angels and a pair of rams, possibly with a few wide bodied tetras (black skirts) and of course you can't go wrong w/ cories (unless you're trying to breed the rams or angels)

betta fish are fun to watch breeding. they make a nest out of bubbles on a leaf and carry the eggs to it. they would be better in ther own tank tho cause other fish only see lunch stuck to a bunch of bubbles. gouramis do this too (i think)

Thanks, this is all very helpful!

It will be a while before I set up anything. My husband is in job flux and I need to be open to relocating if it becomes necessary. (Keep your fingers crossed, he has a job interview next week.) With the potential prospect of relocating, I am not setting up a tank now.

I am also expecting our third child in about a month. I am keeping life pretty simple for at least 6 months so I have plenty of time to put some good thought and research into this.

Regarding the guppies we have, the three are males. I definately don't want breeding!
The guppies were my daughter's pick. I couldn't sway her from them.

I am interested in loaches. I love the look of the clowns but I know they get too big. I'll have to research the smaller loaches.

I also like angels.

I think a BIG school of neons or cardinals would look so cool in a huge tank! I've not heard good things about their hardiness though.

All food for thought. Thanks.

One thing, I wouldn't do Black Skirt Tetras. They can be boisterous little jerks, even when in their own company.

The bigger the tank, the more of a pleasant view to take in. All fish are known to be calming.

I agree that watching just about ANY fish will be relaxing. My husband calls me a fish dork when he comes down in the morning and I am just gazing at my tank as I drink my coffee...so soothing!!!

lol.. my brother does the same thing. he doesnt say it out loud, but i know he thinks it by his expression. fish keeping i think would be considered the geekiest hobby ive come into. i usually sleep in my room with my 55 gallon tank with my lil O in it, but cant see in it when im going to bed at night bc its dark n i still need to get some lighting for it.. but last night i slept in my living room on my couch and shut the TV off so the room was dark except for my lil 10 gallon with my rasboras in it. It was really relaxing and cool looking.
then i shut the light on the tank off and was falling asleep and my mom woke up and went on the computer and my brother started cooking stir fry.. at 12:30 at night. yipes.
