Can you comment on the other part... PC's are better for soft corals while halides are better for hard corals. My LFS actually recommended that in a 90G (since it's not very tall) that I get a halide fixture one one side for hard corals and the leave the softies over on the other.
I want to keep the wood canopy. So, I'm guessing I move my PCs kinda toward the front of the tank and then put the halides toward the back. My tank is 4' wide... so it would probably be best to get the 48" of this:
