mmmmm... I think I've got Ick

we brought home a turtle from NYC for a friend and kept it in our tank till he got his stuff set up, I am willing to bet that is where it came from.

Possible I would think from water transfer alone...not really knowledgeable on the reps/amphibs and fish ich...

well he was kept in a tank and feed feeder goldfish only so I dunno.
The time frame seems about right, he's been in the tank for about a week.

do I add the salt mixture all at once or spread it out over a few hours?

I usually dissolve the total required amount in hot used tank water or dechlor'ed tap water.....let it cool to tank/room temp.....and add about 1/4th of it every 6-8 hrs..watching for reactions...slowing down additions if necessary....

Ok, well I'm about to boil my solution and get started on the treatment....hopefully I caught it in time.

fingers crossed

Could you possibly get a pic...only asking because i've misdiagnosed ich on my silverdollars before, there color can be kind of tricky sometimes. If they bump into a rock or wood etc in the tank (which happens because they scare very easily) and lose scales it can look decievingly like ich. lets hope thats what it is :) crosses fingers

it's not just missing scales, I noticed the spots on the fins and then looked closer and saw it on the body. I'll try to get a picture though

Crossing mine too! Ich is NEVER fun. I transferred fish between tanks and 3/4 of mine got ich. I've gotten rid of it in all tanks but one, the one with my platy fry and prego mamas :(
