you know, there is a PERFECTLY reasonable solution to both the ethical concern I have and the rules... when editing a post there should be a note attached that says:

This post has been edited by moderator -- insert name here --

but I doubt they're willing to do that either (not even saying they should have to say why, just acknowledge they've left their footprint on the post)

Members recieve an auto-PM including the moderators name when an edit or deletion is done, and any reasoning provided within that message.

but I doubt they're willing to do that either (not even saying they should have to say why, just acknowledge they've left their footprint on the post) I saw you mentioned this is done sometimes, I've never seen it, and I had a whole lot of context cut out of one of my posts. If that tag was required I'd be happy to shut up. Heck, you could even take the part out about saying which mod edited it, just some kind of bold disclaimer saying "hey, we changed this"

I didn't mean to start a riot, I'm pretty new here, and I know I'm putting my head in the lions mouth... but I still haven't heard anything that changes my mind on the issue.

It does say that - see below. this appears any time anyone edits a post, whether it be the OP or a staff member.

some of us do, some of us don't. It's not required, but if it happens in the future that a post edit derailes what your first intention on the post was, then PM one of us and we'll add it on there.

I think it's a reasonable request.

Again, not necessary for cencored word edits... more for when the body of a post is altered (which I very very rarely see anyways)...

But yeah, by all means, if it happens, drop one of us a PM...

I am neither gleeful nor angry nor upset. I am indifferent & my tone was meant in a matter-of-fact kind of way.

(Insert annoyance here) And please don't make this personal by presuming to tell me what my emotions are.

:chillpill:

Yes, of course you're not unhappy. Your two other posts are just brimming with glee :headshake2:

well see that's the thing... you're claiming it's a matter of fact, but it clearly isn't ... yet you seem to be unwilling to budge on your opinion...

I'm not claiming that it IS a "matter of fact". I said my TONE was "matter-of-fact" - as in Emotionless. Please re-read.

You know what's a lot easier than crying foul and mourning the death of the 1st amendment every time you get slapped on the wrist for being a jerk? Not being a jerk!

OK ... so basically what you're saying is that in the following comment :

I hear ya dude, but you are wasting your time. They will just point out the rules and tell you that you are free to leave. They don't want to hear it & don't care anyway. :D

the tone at which it was written should be taken as an indifferent "matter of fact" tone, but the post should be taken as what? As your opinion? . .

Point taken.

Everyone signed a TOS (terms of service) or memebership agreement when they joined your ''freedom of speech'' does not apply if you violate the terms expect consiquences to follow. If you feel that editing a post is unethecial fine.Your ethics
do not apply get used to it or move on.like i have said there is no casual slip of the tongue or it was said in the heat of the moment.typing a reply requires thought. If someone is not mature enough to understand this concept and act in a mature manner guess you need to find a board that will tolerate your behavior theres roughly
52 million fish forum one must be able to tolerate you.As a mod elsewhere and a global I can tell you it ain't easy being one we have rules to follow also.Anne

#1 is cleaning up after the A.I.R. memebers who can't/won't play nice and follow the rules
