I have some molly fry and I was wondering, in order to keep them from being sucked up into my power filter, could I put like pantyhose or something like that over the intake?

It's fun for a while but if you keep saving, you'll have 10 dozen mollies in there in a few months. I've been there. Can't give them away fast enough. 
I have guppy fry at the mo, they pretty much stay clear of the filter and hide out in the floating plants. If you dont have any, get some, gives them a bit of cover to hide out.
