That's the way to do it! Easier to create less from too much than more for not enough. For ferts I'd look into EI dosing, there is lots of info on it in the sticky of this forum.Thanks. If it ends up being too much light then I figure I can pull out one bulb which would bring it down to 162 watts. I havent though about adding ferts I suppose I need to look into it. The tank has been set up for about a month now.
You're already half way there then. You can get a regulator/selnoid/bubblecounter/needle value setup for around $90, maybe even less if you really shopped around. You'd also need co2 tubing & a check valve, you could get away with just airline tubing & one of those plastic check valves for a little while but they will degrade rather quickly. I can't remember the website I bought mine from but AquariumPlants.com has a decent deal on the Milwaukee MA957 which is a good regulator for the money & it's free shipping AND a $20 coupon on next order....I wish that was around when I bought mine!What is involved in adding CO2? I actually have a co2 tank that I am not using, roughly how much would it cost for everything else needed to hook it up?
Then you just need a way of diffusing it and there are many ways! DIY inline reactors, glass diffusers & powerheads seem to be the most popular. A DIY inline reactor (what I use) can cost as little as a few bucks depending what you have lying around. Aquariumplants.com again has a $14 glass diffuser which is a good price, I have never used one though.
