Multiple Tank Syndrome and Mothers

It really is too bad that no one at home appreciates aquariums. I guess I'll just have to live with that, and keep all my fishy projects with me in my room.:shakehead:

If only I could set up a tank that she enjoyed having in the house; just seeing that she liked it would be fantastic. That was actually part of the reason I wanted to do something small. I guess it's back to the drawing board...or maybe not.

Or BFs. He hates seeing "bloodworms" in the freezer so I have to put them in another container. Live shrimp on the kitchen counter, no way.

Really? He needs to produce a little testosterone and not be so squeamish. Unless you're doing something weird, like keeping the in the ice cream carton that's still half full, or something. If that's the case, you need to reevaluate your storage methods. :22_yikes:

Go with the Goodwill/Salvation Army lamp. Skip the DIY for now. Burning down the house with a DIY set up will not make Mom happy. Also skip hiding anything in the closet or anyplace that looks like you are hiding it. I say this as a Mom and as a hobbyist with MTS. :)

Taking on hated chores in exchange for adding a tank has merit. The only catch is that you do have to keep up your end of the deal!

Good luck!

And remember - if the answer remains "NO!", well everyone needs to dream and scheme for future tanks. :) In time you will be on your own and have a whole lot more say in these things.

Don't give up if it's something you enjoy. Just try to find a way to work within the restrictions that you have. If you stay with it and show that this is not just a passing fad for you, things might change.

Good luck.

I'm trying to find a good day to go get a lamp. Tomorrow's pretty busy, but I'll see if I can fit it in.

Don't worry; I won't give up aquariums unless something really awful like getting married happens.;)

Yeah getting married kept me at one 15 gallon tank for 5 years. Then I managed to con her into the 125... Now she is asking for a nice 46g corner pentagon tank for the family room... :evil_lol: ha ha ha I'm slowly winning the war. 10 years in and I've got 5 tanks with approval for one more.

I am allowed to have as many tanks as I want as long as it is after we buy a house and have room for them.

Pays to have a fiance who likes fish too. I told her a while ago that I was going to make my tank a plant only BC I kept killing fish....she was very bummed. I then scrapped the idea and went to the fish store.

I got plans for a 50 two 20s and a ten

I follow the same rule; there won't be anyone to stop me once I've got my own place.:woot:When I do have the opportunity to expand my horizons, depending on my future water parameters, maybe I could go into Amazonian tanks, or South American cichlids... And, of course, shrimp!
