My 125 Tank Build

Now that is just wonderful/beautiful. I call dibs on the first frag you cut. ;)

Well I got this acan off ebay and am hoping that the color is the same when I get it. I have looked for a rainbow acan for a long time and am very excited to get this one.

It's sure funny what different folks call the same thing or different things all have the same name. I guess there are more rainbows than what you got, which, by the way looks more like a rainbow than what I just found on there. I hope you get what you saw. That is a nice piece of coral. Good luck. :thm:

The seller on ebay is Thad-Thein of Tidal Gardens coral propagation. Evelyn Than took that picture.

Wow what a difference. I just replaced my MHs and my PCs and it makes quite a difference. It has been a year on both. I am going to have to do better on the PCs. The jury is still out on the new MHs. This time I am trying 10000k and I have always used 14000k. Seems a lot more yellow. Fortunately the Actinics take the yellow away when they are on.

So, which MH light will you put in the next time? Is the higher the "K" value the whiter the light? Which brand of light is better?

Greg: I like the more subdued look of the 10k, but i might try it mixed with a 14k in the middle and see what the light effect is. I really like the Coralife bulbs for me - it is my light fixture (Coralife Pro Retrofit - 72"). I do wish it was 250w, but I am not about to buy a new light fixture and I don't keep SPS so it really should be fine. Seems to me a lot of people like the Ushio and Reeflux bulbs (might have misspelled them)

I may look into changing out my ballast and lights. But that is down the road right now.

I got my last MHs from Light Spectrum Enterprises, Inc and got a real deal. My 10k bulbs for 150w were ~$20 each vs the 90-100 each I usually spend. I will wait til the 100 hr burn in to see how they settle. Wish I had a meter to determine their effectiveness. Right now the tank is really responding (favorably) but I don't know if it is just because I changed the "overdue for a change" bulbs. But my clam is really happy and I was of the impression that the MH were its real lightsource.

They do have great prices on the MH. Let me know how they work out for you. What are you using for yoru other lights?
