My 125 Tank Build

I have a Coralife Pro Retrofit Kit which has the three 150w MH and 4 96watt PC. I use 2 Actinics and 2 Daylight bulbs and it seems to work well. If I was to do it all over again, despite the great deal I got on the retro, I would have gone with 250w.

I will try to post some new pictures, but here is an update. I just got back from a business trip and diatom city with some cyano thrown in. I spent the weekend doing maintenance. My nitrates had risen to 20 so I did a 20% water change, gravel vac'd the sand and blew out the LR with a power head. I loaded my two LF Phosban reactors with 'de*nitrate nitrate remover' by seachem and started to use Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter7 and Reef BioFuel and things seem to be improving greatly (I hope I didn't jinx myself by saying this). I did an impulse buy this past weekend and bought the coolest snails - Ninja Stars, 4 of them. They will be part of the pics when I get the camera out.

Later this week I will be getting some sand sifting crabs, so will see how they fare.

Ok, the pictures are not great but here are some shots of the new Ninja Stars. They are really interesting. Haven't seen these around in a couple of years.

Those look cool. Where can I get a few? What are the drawbacks of having them?

Greg: they are Astraea spp snails and are reef safe. I have only seen them in my local fish store. They were only $1.99 each. At mature size they are only 2 inches. Very slow movers and I was surprised to see them move through the rockwork. Thought they would get caught on it due to their "points" but they didn't. I haven't seen them online either, but never really looked for them. I also purchased some pink shelled turbos from the same store....they are all now covered in coraline. Guess that is good though.

New Additon

Well I finally got a mystery wrasse. They really look odd when you take a close look at them, but very full of personality. Their colors are great as well.

Just be careful with them around inverts when they get big. I have seen one munch cleaner shrimp real quick. Had a larger one in a 400G tank at the LFS and they threw in 4 cleaner shrimp not knowing the danger and all 4 were lunch before they reached the bottom.

I have a friend who owns a pet shop and he will special order for me. I got this one for $72 and I have seen them for double that.
