Yeah yeah ;) I need to take more time setting up the camera... with the relatively low light and the flash turned off, the "auto" mode on that camera uses a long exposure time... tough to get a non-fuzzy pic.

The cycle seems to be doing it's thing. I can't say whether or not the bio-spira helped or not... I've been doing 30% water changes the last few days, every evening I've tested it and nitrite has been around .5-.8ppm, nitrate around 10ppm. I guess the nitrite eating bacteria take longer to get set up... but ammonia processing is going full tilt, ammonia is always 0 lately.

So no fish losses yet??? The nitrites are the killers!!!

Nope, everyone seems pretty healthy and as happy as fish. Even the BGK has been coming out a lot more during feeding time and taking what he wants instead of waiting for darkness. Squeegee the largish sailfin plec has begun getting VERY excited at feeding time. He'll even chase other fish away from bloodworms that make it to the bottom. I have to go away for a few days coming up here in a couple weeks. I hope I can get the cycle under control by then... and I hope my brother coming in to feed them once will be enough.

Do you guys think I should tail off the feeding a day or two before I leave, and do a large water change before I leave, just to keep ammonia production down while they won't be getting daily water changes?

More random photos Yay! still having trouble getting clear pics... esp of that **** BGK - he won't hold still!! Anyways...
