My 30 gallon planted tank - neon tetras and fantail guppies

Maybe get a small fish to eat the fry? Bettas normally eat fry, but it depends on the betta I guess, mine won't touch any fry. Or you could try a ram, a type of dwarf cichlid, like a bolivian ram. I own two and I have 2 guppies and 8 neons, the rams don't bother them. Maybe one would be fine.

your fry will survive eating infusoria (sp). That's all the small microscopic bits that collect on plant leaves, the substrate your wood, etc.

I agree, adding some cories should be okay - you're heavily planted.

Adding a "predator" would be a good idea

I'm not too worried about the guppy population. .. i actually wouldn't mind having them grow to adult size so I can feed my cichlids in another tank.

I keep hearing about people doing gravel vacs, but this isn't something I can do since there plants everywhere.
So, i'm wondering if there would be any negative effects as years goes by or would it be ok due to the amount of plants?

You just don't want a lot of crud accumulating at the bottom...I find when I change water (every two weeks usually) the whole process stirs up plenty of stuff, which I remove to the best of my ability, so I don't feel the need to aggressively root around for it with a gravel vac.

So just make sure your aquarium doesn't seem to have lots of debris settled on the surface, and if it does then vacuum it out. (Especially if you have driftwood in the tank, that seems to create lots of mulm.)

Just waving your hand around creates plenty of disruption, enough for me anyway to get what I need out of there during water changes.

When i was pouring water back in to the tank i started to notice there was a lot of debris floating around.
Waving my hand around wouldn't be a bad idea, but I just don't want the fishes breathing it in.. . i'm not sure if it will do them any harm over a long period of time.

It won't hurt them, many fish rummage around down there for food among the silt and sediment. Many fish eat poop by mistake, and just spit it out. It's not like when humans breathe dust or eat poop...I know it's easy to humanize our fish :)

If you do decide to add more cories, the pygmy cories stay really small and may be a good choice. I just picked up some habrosus and really like them.

I don't know if this is common, but there one male guppy who keeps attacking all the other males.
It seems he wants all the females to himself since he never attacks them.
I should have room for a few more fishes now since 2 of my male guppies are dead. (RIP)
:(

Yeah, I'll be sure to get the pygmy cories, thanks!
I should had got cardinal tetras instead of the neon ones.. . i was told they are a lot smaller.
