my 450 gallon...the rise and fall

water bill wasnt too bad, just shower less lol. in reality though, once i got rid of the plecos i did a water change once a month. when i travelled i did it once every 3 months. the parameters always stayed perfect. the more water, the more it takes to effect it.

jaysen, wow, you know that what happened to you is our worst nightmare with this hobby. I live on the second floor of a condo and had a couple floods of my own . I can relate big time. The girl downstairs had to replace all the drywall in about half of her unit. Cost me thousands also:nutkick:

Fishrod, what happened in your case was it a seam break like
jaysen? Thank goodness for insurance huh. Water claims scare me. A relative had a pipe break while on vacation, then after the insurace paid on the claim they were dropped from the company. Then looking for another company one of the first few questions they ask is if you had a water calim. Well, it took months to find another company that would accept them. Everyone else refused to take a client whith a past water damage claim.

the same thing happened to me. the insurance company dropped me because of the damage and i have been having trouble finding another one.

im in ny. the petstore is in brooklyn. they put a dog in a dryer after she was washed and left it in for too long until it died. then they told the family it was sick and old and dying anyhow so they wouldnt pay for a new dog or anything. a bunch of criminals. it was in the news and now its almost forgotten.

Could you have paid the bill for the damage any other way?

Insurance sure isn't what I ever expected it to be. I've heard so many stories of people being dropped by insurance companies after submitting a claim or two. Insurance should be looked at as a last ditch safety net that will save your skin. It should only be used when the cost of damage repair is just too steep to handle.

it was thousands in damage, brand new carpets, walls, furniture, anything electrical....all broken. 450 gallons is no small leak. insurance is a scam, when its time to pay for what they provide they always try to weasel out. it is like dealing with lawyers...always looking for loopholes and technicalities.

Wow... So sorry.

I'd keep on your Ins. Co. Make sure that they know you're willing to testify as to the dishonesty of the store & the flaws in the tank's workmanship.

I guess that's one more reason to go glass - easier to rebuild (acrylic welding is not for the faint of heart - 1 chance per seam).
