My awesome computer got a magnificent virus.

Huh.. I did'nt know you could just google a virus and find tools for removal, I always assumed you had to go through a virus killer program like norton's or the like. I learned something new today.

Yup, its a really handy way to get rid of a virus. Its not a replacement for something like Norton though, as you need to know the name of the virus in the first place (usually your anti-virus program will tell you the name) and then if the program can't delete it head to Google, type in the virus name and you will either get automated tools (usually on symantecs website) or forums with instructions on how to remove the virus.

ZoneAlarm ForceField

Free Online Virus scanners are often malware. The fact that your system got a virus means that A) you don't have an anti-virus software, B) it is out of date, C) You have McAfee or Norton

Before trying to remove the virus you MUST Boot into Safe Mode and turn off System Restore. You also need to delete ALL temp files especially Internet Explorer Temp Files. Failure to do so will cause your system to be re-infected.

1. Proceed with virus removal. 2. When finished Run Spybot Search and Destroy or A-Squared Free which are very good spyware removers.

You also may need to run a rootkit remover depending on the virus you have.

For anti-virus software (free) Avast AVG or AntiVir

When clean, reboot and test system BEFORE turning System Restore back on.

Are you sure its a virus? Sounds more like adware. Try using Adaware its free.
I already have that on my computer, but whenever it tries to get rid of the virus, it gets an error and closes. Ah well, I'll just destroy my computer and get a crappy vista instead. :grinyes::grinyes::grinyes::grinyes::grinyes::grinyes:
