My little snapper I got this month. 20gal, 77 degrees with 24 feeder minnows and 9 babies. Filtered by a hob, and yes the hob filter is IN the water

Hornwort seems to be doing great in this tank, I guess since there isnt 12" goldfish in this tank it can thrive.. Also has 1.75wpg

Cute, but just wait until little man there requires 300 gallons to be happy and healthy...

I suggest a stock tank, lol.

Ill have my 180 tank on stand buy when I build my fish a bigger tank, so he will eventually go from a 20gal to 180gal, I am HOPING this summer late fall. I think the 180 gal will hold him for a good number of years, just dont know about the pond liner and his claws, I might have to line the edges with rocks or something. Im thinking maybe a final all in all life long tank for him would be like a 8x3x2 or a 8x4x2 tank. Who knows until then, I got many years ahead before he gets to big for the 180.

Nice baby snapper. I missing having those guys. Good choice of feeder fish. Stay away from Rosy Reds and Goldfish. Do you have it feeding on a good brand of turtle pellet? Mine use to love snails, earthworms, crickets, thawed shrimp, aquatic insect larva and sometimes water lettuce.

When well cared for they grow faster than you think :)

By stock tank I meant a water tank for livestock. Look here http://www.turtletimes.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36398&hl=stock+tank

I hate stock tanks, I need a viewing window. When I built my 180 gal I just had top view and hated it, so I eventually bolted up a acrylic window to it. MUCH better to see the fish from the side. Id like to see the turt from the side to!

Well its good I didnt get roseys then, I only got the guppies because he is so small and they were the smallest feeders they had. They also have feeder shrimp, I wonder if he would like those.

He actually just started eating a few days ago, he was still using up his yolk sack when i got him. Right now I have some chiclid gold pellets for him to munch on (floating). Right now I just want him to eat, I dont think he even looks at the guppies yet, they swim by his face and peck at his shell at he just sits there. Hes only snapped once at them to my knowledge.

This weekend I wouldnt mind getting some turtle pellets as long as they are not to big for him. I have medium pellets and they are just a tad to big for him, takes him a few bites to get it down.
