Today at feeding time, I noticed four of my zebras were pregnant. This species has been doing great for me. I had little expectations at first, but they really have grown on me.

They are very sweet mild mannered shrimp, with big appetites. and always busy doing things.

Im not surprised, dont the two species originate from the same species? They are pretty hardy, I really like their nice thick plump look and the orange accents on the tail, nose, and some have orange eyes.

There are two distinct species Caridina sp, that go by Tiger and Zebra shrimp. They are closely related being of the Caridina genus. These shrimp will definitely interbreed (Zebra and Tiger shrimp}, Crystal Red might interbreed as well, I can't remember for sure.

Good luck with your shrimp!

:thm: Congrats!!! They are lovely shrimps and your photos are pretty great!!!

I'm glad to see someone out there having luck with this. I recently picked up 6 of them and I'm hoping that they'll breed. I know I'm starting off with a lower number that I probably should. So how long have you had them or better yet how long did it take for them to start breeding? Also if you don't mind what are your parameters?
