My berried Zebra shrimp!

Those are lovely!

I'm glad to see someone out there having luck with this. I recently picked up 6 of them and I'm hoping that they'll breed. I know I'm starting off with a lower number that I probably should. So how long have you had them or better yet how long did it take for them to start breeding? Also if you don't mind what are your parameters?

Just to help with ID and water parameters the shrimp shown as "Zebra" is a Tiger Shrimp (Caridina cf cantonensis) and they require water on the acidic and soft side to be healthy and breed. here is much more info for you...

I have had them for almost a month now. I got an order of 50. I use the purified water refill machine at walzmart for their water since its more acidic than the tap water. The first few weeks I was mixing the two waters half and half, but the last week I did 50% water changes and used straight purified water as a replacement, and the next two days four of them were pregnant. I did the same with my bumblebees, and 2-3 of them are pregnant now too.

I noticed that the shrimp tend to really like 30-50% water changes weekly and lots of plants.

Woo-hOO! I have babies!!!!
I counted 3 of them last night. They do not have any stripes yet, so I was worried that they might have hitchhiked into the tank from the blue shrimp tank, but unlikely.

Does anyone know when they are suppose to get stripes? Or are these stowaways from another tank?

Those are beautiful! They remind me of saltwater shrimp with those bright colors.

I was able to get a few pics, but these guys dont like to come to the glass. I have counted only 5 of these guys. There are a lot of plants in this tank, so hopefully the rest are hiding.

The babies are starting to show their stripes, as they get larger, I see more and more babies in there everyday, There are a few that have red speckles, but usually thats when they are under the bright light
