I started out with a glass spice jar with a plastic lid. Using a dremel, I made some of the holes in the lid a little larger, enabling the snails to get to the bait but not my shrimp. I then baited the trap with snail jello, set it in the tank overnight, and simply removed the trap in the morning which had a lot of baby pond snails inside. The snails are then ready to be fed to my Assassin snail tank. IMG_1501.JPG

The glass bottle is easy to clean too, since it is dishwasher safe. I managed to get a lot of the baby snails that were about the size of this "o".

I would make the holes bigger to catch bigger snails too. Shrimp move a lot faster and are pretty easy to get out of the way when it comes time to pull it out.

Excellent idea though!

Beautifully done! And as a crafter and avid DIYer, I'm highly amused to see that you including the safety glasses in the photo of bottle and dremel to show what you used!

Great idea! I want to get rid of some pond snail, but not my ramshorn who's not too big. That will work perfectly, I think.
