Well, we have decided to leave Bullrock and his girlfriends in the 29g and see what happens. If one of the girl's falls for his plan, and lays eggs, we'll take it from there. The only fish in the tank that we are really worried about for the fry are the kilis. So if she lays eggs, we'll remove the kilis and the female gouramis. I think once the fry are hatched, we'll remove Bullrock as well. I don't think the fry need to fear the zebras or the cory cats. We will keep everyone posted on our little guy and his progress with the ladies.
UPDATE! So Bullrock has been really busy rebuilding his nest and pretty much took over the whole back corner again, lol. Now it seems, all his hard work is paying off as one of the females is finally showing interest. Her name is Shy-nee, because when we first got her, she was really shy, and of course, she's a shiny fish, so it fits. Anyway, so I'm sitting here watching Shy-nee sneak up the back of the lily plant to Bullrock's nest, and he's up there, and then all of a sudden: they curl up with each other! AWWWW! It was so cute! She swam out, he chased her. lol. Then, he went back to his nest, and she has been back up there many more times snuggling with him. So, we will keep you guys posted as to whether they succeed in mating.
Tomorrow we are going to buy a breeder net and some first bites just in case! This is exciting.
Ok, Im a little confused. Last night, all that action, this morning we wake up and NO BUBBLENEST...... When I say no bubblenest, I mean, not one bubble left. We don't know what happened. Does anyone have any advice?
The only thing I can think of is we put some Melafix in last night for our plump zebra. Would Melafix destroy the bubblenest?
Poor Bullrock. At least he got a little snugglin last night, lol.
