is that normal? my male has some greenish/blueish sheen by the gill plate and my female has just a lil. so will the frys inharite the yellowtailed female genes? will the frys have yellow tails? right now it seems i have 2 diff types of cons but they both look the same besides the tail and blueish/greenish sheens

It depends which gene is dominant. For example, the yellow tail will be either dominant or recessive. If it is dominant all or almost all of the fry will have it. If it is recessive almost none of the fry will have it, but the gene is likely to turn up in the next generation. As for the irredescent sheen, males will generally be more colourful then the females so they probably have similar genetics in that area.

My female con has an orange tail. ;)

so then why dont the males?

It's just how nature works. In this case, the females evolved those colors as part of the courtship display to alert the male that she's receptive.

My female got green, yellow, orange, pink and red in her tail, dorsal and on her belly when she was in the mood.
