My first 29gal Fowlr

Thank you so far everything is doing great the tomini started picking at the rocks about an hour after it went into the tank, the frogspawn still doesn't look like it has fully opened, and about 80% of the polyps on the pipe organ were out yesterday about two hours after being in the tank.
 
I found out what was pissing off the frogspawn it was right under the protien skimmer return causeing it to get too much flow for its likeing, I turned off the skimmer for now until I figure out what to do. I also got better pics of everything.

I really like the tomini (Flame Fin) tang. We have had one at the LFS that has been there for about 3 months now and I am shocked no one has bought it.

Have to say again, your camera/picture taking skills are awesome!
 
Thank you, I actually either never someone before or never payed them any mind if have I have until I went to this new LFS. I dont know if it's a rare fish or what But I really like it.

It's actually the camera that does the work, I just pull up a chair in front of the tank and shoot away, which I love to do:thm:
 
Well... It's time for a new skimmer, I've pretty much got my mind set on the AquaC Remora. Now I just have to get lucky and find someone selling one locally or buy a new one.

Oh and is there anyway to edit previous post? I'd like to edit my first post to warn people about this skimmer.
 
Haha, so just as I finished typing the above post I browsed my local reef club forum and what do you know someone is selling an aquac remora with a maxi jet 900(which I'm gonna swap with my 1200) and the surface skimmer for $100. I will install it tommorrow and post pics when I'm done.
 
Well it's in the tank.

It's pretty loud compared to the seaclone, but so far it's starting to pull tea colored skimmate. As for the surface skimmer I consider it distracting. I'll post pics when the water clears up from the water change.

In other news I gutted my canister filter, in hopes to help if not solve the gha problem.
 
Another update, after adding the remora my gsp and devils hand stopped opening up. Now I've read that corals sometimes close randomly for a few days so it didn't really concern meat the time. After a few days the gsp started to partially open up, but they didn't have any color to them. Then a few days later they started bleaching on the upper areas, keep in mind I they've been in the tank with the same lighting since september 2. Anyway long story short I put a piece of paper on the glass over the gsp and devils hand last night and today they finally opened up. I figured out that the surface film that was there before must have been blocking some light and with the surface skimmer it's getting more light into the tank.

Now a question for you guys how do I reacclimate them to the "extra" light now? Do I leave the paper over them during the day and then take it off when I get home from work (lights are on for about 3 hours after I get home). Or move them lower in the tank (the devils hand is as low as it can get without being on the sand bed and I would have to place the gsp on the sand bed).
 
The Remora's are loud at first, but after it breaks in it gets alot better. I'm not a big fan of the massive skimmer box, but the scum on the surface drives me nuts. I used a piece of plastic tube connected to the intake of the pump to pull off the surface film instead of having to deal with that massive box which can be difficult to cover with rock. Only problem is if your water line is'nt fairly consistant it can cause your pump to run dry. I top off consistantly so it has'nt been an issue.
