Well I was looking around at Petco and finally found a betta. His name is Hattori Hanzo. He's a bit on the small side; seemed active and healthy at least from what I could tell from the cup he was in. I took a bunch of photos, even a video! I’m hoping you can tell me if there is anything that looks wrong with him. When I got him situated in his temporary tank and was able to get a better look at him I noticed little black tips on fins, and I wasn’t to sure if his gill area was suppose to look as light as it does, but then again he is a very light colored betta I really don’t know what to look for, he’s almost translucent in a way...anyways, so far he’s eaten and pooped, been swimming and even flared at the camera (managed to get a pic of it).

And...

His tail with black dots. Is this the beginning of fin rot?

His temporary tank was way to bare so I got him a plant and a deco, I plan on getting another plant and some flat stones for the bottom, just something simple until his tank is ready.

The Video! He was active very cautious about the bamboo, tried to eat it...poor guy, haha. He seems a lot happier though now that he had SOMETHING in his temp tank.

he's beautiful, dng! Good luck with him. As far as the spots on the tail edges, I don't think it's the onslaught of rot but I do think it's worth watching out for.... if you do notice it to change or his tail becoming shorter, then take action. For now, asure that his tank is pristine with water changes and such and you should have a happy boy.

hello, i would definately take out the buddha you have in there, i had a statue like that in my tank for about 2 months and the red started coming off if i touched it...i thought it was just red wood...foolish mistake, but luckily no fish died from the erosion of the shellac. and your betta looks great and ive had 2 bettas for about a yr and one died of dropsy:( but when the betta is sick or not happy they will let you know, acting weird or trying to jump out of tank.
