My First Planted

Beautiful aquarium! Do you have a clown loach? One of your pics looked like a clown hiding and boy, if it is, he looks quite big!

It is a clown loach, there are 4 of them, at the time I brought them the intention wasn't to make this a planted tank, I have to find them a new home :(

This is your first planted tank? It's stunning! I really like the school of rasboras. I like all the plants and especially the cuba. I'm starting my first planted tank and could definitely use some tips from you!

Well done!

Looking good!

What a beautiful tank. I want mine back now! I had the DIY Co2 set up too but I didn't have the cup set up at the end like yours. What is that?

Thanks for all the positive comments guys :)

This was originally purchased for my goldfish which was getting too big for his old tank, but when it passed way after 3 years I decided to go the tropical way, I always kept some plants in it like the lilly and some anubias. Over the last 6 weeks I have upgraded the lighting and added CO2 and also started using dry ferts. What you really need in a planted ;)

Its a glass diffusor, on the first photos I use that and also the nutrafin ladder difusor I was doing some testing, now I have ditched both and I am using one by Hydor which you can see in the middle of the tank next to the Riccia. Its basically a water pump that as an intake for the CO2 tube which breaks up the CO2 bubbles into very tiny ones and spreads them around the entire tank.

Way cool tank, London! You've got the touch with the plants, alright. Nice bows too.

It could have gone better but I had attached the Riccia to 3 stones and only one survived the others just rotted away and also by clow loaches keep uprooting the HC which most of it as died out, my gravel is too big also which doesn't help.

Again thanks for the comments :)

How do you like the Hydor? I was looking into that but wasn't sure how well it worked. Reviews??? Thanks

In my opinion its a complete waste of money if you have anything above 10g. The 94g canister lasted two weeks at the rate needed for my aquarium and replacements cost £15 each, I am back to using two nutrafin kits with DIY solution. Good thing I only paid £35 for it on ebay, if any one wants it for a smaller aquarium I am open to offers. But don't bother if you have anything more than 10g.

That looks stunning!

Thanks for the comments :)
