You need a very large tank if you want to have a VG. With the proper housing, "freshwater" flounder would be fine. They get about 6" and eat meaty foods. I'd advise getting a colour sand that differs from their natural colour, as they like to partially submerge themselves into the sand, and you'd be able to see where they were like this.
