My GF's 10gal Reef Log

well some of the zoas are opening... I thought i read somewhere that zoas might occasionally "purge" themselves...

I forgot to mention that we also got a cleaner shrimp... his antennae hit a couple of them so they might have gotten pissed...

But ya, the pinks are like open, but they look pretty shriveled if that makes sense...

oh, the feather duster is out andd enjoying the tank now!

Im not too worried about the zoas, if they start decomposing then ill worry... But if there is anything chemical in there, then the new carbon will help get rid of it... One thing i thought of is that it had been like 4 or 5 weeks without a water change... I know, i know... But the corals were all thriving and doing well and there were no signs of any trates..

Im wondering if all of a sudden an increase in minerals and trace elements might have thrown everything off...

well this evening everything seems to be doing much much better now!! the featherduster is always out, and all of the zoanthids are open and looking healthy!

here are a couple pics of the new additions:

Here you can see the zoanthids that are the slowest to recover... They are all "open" but still slightly shriveled...

here is our feather duster... its hard to see the 3 different levels of feeathers, but they are there

here is one of our "balls" of palys.. they are now doing GREAT! they are also growing onto the rockwork behind them

here is the section of zoanthids that we moved back agains that rockwork... you can see where they have connected to the rockwork and have already formed a new polyp in the last week...

here is our little hunter again:

here are the pinks that just looked absolutely disastarus last night.. they are back to normal now

here is our cleaner shrimp... he is about 3 times as big as our fish..

here he/she is hunting again!

the "hunter" which will probably be the woman is about 1" in length, whereas the man, is about 3/4" in length... they are soo tiny!

enjoy

ya its going to be fun to see them grow! they eat like crazy!

we are trying to figure out what corals to add next! i have fragged a small green striped mushroom in my tank, that is going to be added here in a week or so to her tank... i also fragged some brown/orange zoanthids for her tank!

Grins you'll have to ask the boss... She took the pictures...

But that one is always "hunting" so he hovers above the substrate or rocks for a second before catching his prey...

Salty - Im looking to get a frag of them for my larger reef tank.. As for light over this tank, we have 80 watts of PC.. We could keep pretty much anything we wanted to... We don't have an auto top off so salinity varies a little so if it is too hard to keep, it probably wouldn't last..
