My kids First Tank

There is definitely something wrong with the gold barbs. I'm not sure whether its a disease or not but mine are fat and look nothing like that. Someone on here may be able to give you some more info if it is a disease. That krib is so cool looking and its a good looking tank overall.

Nice tank!

What kind of plants are those?
Are they high maintenance?
I wanna know so I could put these in my 29G :)

They were sold to me as Amazon Swords, which I think is accurate. They grow fast, are very easy, and dont seem to need much light. I only have 1/2 watt per gallon, which is low, I dont use CO2 yet, and I also dont use Seachem Excel yet. The only thing I do is add liquid plant food once a week as the bottle directs, which has only iron and potassium I think. I also trim off any leaves the brown or have excessive algae, but like I said, these plants are super easy. Plus, you should be able to buy them already in a decent size, so you get the instant gratification thing!

I purchased five barbs several weeks ago, and now only two are alive. The others died from whatever they had at the time I bought them, and the two survivors are growing, swimming, and eating nicely. So I think I am in the clear.

Kribs are awesome! I think more newbs should look into Kribs since they are soo colorful, fun to watch, easy to take care of, are dwarfs, and are a good start down the road towards other cichlids.

Awesome, cant wait to get some in my soon to be 29g!
Good luck with your tank :)

You've done well grasshopper and you should be very proud of your son. You are soooo in trouble.... one tank overflows into 2, then 3, etc. Welcome... you've been bitten.

Love kids stocking and choice of decorations. You'll see a pic of my 4 yr old lads tank in a couple of months, once gently fully stocked.

Don't they just love feeding time!
