my nano tank journal

well i have added a gonodactylus smithii (mantis shrimp) and a few fish to my setup! about time i got some stock in there i think! the fish are... 3 fiji damsels and a sixline wrasse. thinking of adding more damsels i like the way they chase each other allover the tank... but then i would probably need a skimmer... or perhaps more live rock!! i have about 10kg in there now i think...

i also have alot of badass looking crabs with huge black pinchers but i cant bring myself to kill em... saw a big one holding eggs in there today!!! perhaps i will end up with a crab tank and no fish or corals left hehehe

also check out this HUGE brittle star! its like 5" across and i have no idea how it got into my tank!

No need to worry about the crabs as the mantis will take care of them. Aren't you concerned about the mantis taking out everything in the tank?

i keep him well fed... but at the end of the day he is my favourite pet so if he starts killing fish i will give the rest away and just keep him in there with corals. he is pretty well behaved though, he doesnt even eat snails unless i forget to feed him.

time for an updated pic maybe?

xcuse the tupperware containers, im fragging some mushrooms !

Looks great. Nice little shroom farms :)

(sort of) finished aquscaping the tank now. dunno if im entirely happy with it yet... but i cant really fit anymore rock in, so if anything i will take some bits out. the big zoa rocks near the top of the tank are going to get removed, once i frag all the zoos off them of course :) currently buying/fraggin morphs, so i will basically frag everything onto pieces of coral rubble and stick the everywhere, then let it all grow.

I think it's fairly rare for one to be 100% satisfied with their aquascape. I started with a lot of rock and ended up taking quite a bit out and have rescaped so many times!!! Looks good though.

thanks mate :) its due to the help of people like yourself that the tank has been successful so far :)
