As mentioned above - i do a WC every 7-10 days (somewhere between 50-60%). Over the summer more towards every 10 days - in the winter more frequently because i am less busy.
I hardly vacuum at all - just where there are no plants (as you can see thats just a few spots up front and on the right side).
Actually i put quite a bit of "food" in there - not for the betta but because i have no visible algae my snails started to disappear - so i feed them algae discs, a bit extra fish food and crab cuisine.
Waterchange is no hassle at all. Empty and refill.
When i had silk plants there was always algea to scrape off/ clean off. Then the silk plants had to be placed back, rearranged, then they tipped over when i refilled, or got pulled out of the gravel etc. Drove me nuts.
These plants stay where they are.
