I was so excited to be getting a breeding pair of these. When I got the box on Monday it was very stinky and wet.
Uh oh.
This is bad.
Here is the beautiful male:
Amazingly, the female was still hanging on.
There was a live arrival guarantee, so the seller offered another male (though I really wanted a breeding pair and we know how cichlids prefer to chose their own mates), or gave me the option of several juvies. I opted for juvies since they are likely to ship better and I have room to grow them out. I asked that they please send them in regular bags, since the male had spiked the breather bag (which was double bagged without wet newspaper between the bags, plus a 5" fish in a 6" bag...) but the seller refused and insisted on a breather bag. Not much I can do on my end...
So I watch the tracking status all day today. I see they're out for delivery, so I rush home from work early to get them. When my office manager hands me the box she says be careful, it's dripping.
Uh oh.
Not again. :mad2:
Two were very very dead, the other two are currently floating on their sides in my tank.
The seller has now offered me a $5 refund of my $25 purchase or they will send another male at my cost for shipping. I'm sorry, poor packaging of fish is not my fault.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
