I voted the first choice, but after reading a bit more, I think you're doing the right thing. It seems like the seller meant well and this was just an unfortunate problem (that could have been avoided easily, but was still a human mistake).
Good luck with all this mess! I'm sorry. =(
 
As a new hobbyist, this situation discourages me from ordering fish online since I haven't had to yet. I just hope that most experiences are positive.

You shouldn't be discouraged. Most experiences are positive. When having fish delivered, the biggest thing you can do is always make sure you are buying from a trusted vendor. Everything else around that should work out. Things happen sometimes... even in dealing with the best vendor. When choosing a vendor, keep in mind that its not only the quality of the fish... its the quality of the service. In this case, with this thread, the vendor showed excellent service, in my opinion. Because when things went wrong, the vendor tried multiple times to make things right with the buyer. You can't really ask for more than that.

While unfortunate that the original deal was not able to be completed, I still think this deal ended positively when all said and done, in my opinion.
