My Nothobranchius killifish Journal

Day 8

Not much to report , All fish still doing good .

Started them on copepods today they really enjoy them , I put lots of pods in each container so 24/7 meal time :)

They are getting much bigger now , I well post some pics in few days

I wish you the best of luck! I have always wanted to try killis but I was told they need softer, lower pH water.

Keep us updated :D

any updates?

Day 10

All my fry are doing good , not sure how many i have I don't want to move them around to much

I just wetted the peat again, just one new fry and thats a N. Eggersi Red , I well check it in few hours

My BBS hatchery failed today , I was out all day and the air pump packed it in , I do have some frozen BBS so i well try that for tonight

I well get some pics soon , I have been very busy all weekend ( family time )

Day 11

After 24 hours of the second wetting , here are my results

1. Rachovii Berira 98 - 0 Fry
2. N. Patrizii eggs - 0 Fry
3. Palmquisti - 0 Fry
4. N. Eggersi Red - 1 Fry
5. Foerschi - 7 Fry
6. N. Guenther - 0 Fry

Thats 86 Fry to date and a 41% hatch rate

I well try a third and maybe fourth wetting

I had to start a new hatching container for the new fry , I think the older fry would eat them

Day 13

Second wetting is finished and results are

N. Eggersi Red - 1 Fry

Foerschi - 7 Fry

Rachovii Berira 98 - 1 Fry

I well wet the eggs again in 1-2 weeks

The fry are doing great , not sure how many i have but there must be some deaths can find 87 fry , something like 40 or 50 but i have so much hornworth in the containers its hard to count

Day 21

Its almost time to start moving the fry to there forever homes , just waiting few extra days on the cycle on my 6 new tanks .

The fry started a growing spurt , some of them are about the size of a 2-3 month old guppy and others are still very small so there is a big difference if growth rates among the killies
