Wasn't totally thrilled with the scape in the 10g
So I've turned it into an island style blackwater scape.

Home to 8 boraras urophthalmoides, a single male sparkling gourami, and my neocaridina shrimp. And pest snails and an assassin snail.

Fun trying to see them through the red rooibos tea water lol especially since many of the shrimp are wild colour neos.

New pleco!!
Ancistrus martini/bodenhameri (some sources claim same species some claim separate)
Isn't she a cutie? A little different from standard BN, lacks the fine crips spotting, stays a little smaller, wider head, larger eyes.

Shes been added to this tank, which I changed up the look a little bit.

If you can find them locally I would recommend L204; they are relatively inexpensive compare to more exotic species; these are around $30 compared to L397 which are $200:

Also since you are into SA fishes; I would highly recommend borelli - this is a male; they are relatively small around 2 inches for adult male

I do love borelli! But until I have a fish room, don't got a tank for a group of apistos. Small, but have a lot of cories who would get nabbed if they inevitably tried to spawn.

Those plecos are stunning! But not available here.

I thought I'd regret only getting one of these plecos, so I went back for a male today so I've got a pair now :)

Maybe plain jane but I think their subtle differences from standard Ancistrus cf cirrhosis (common bristlenose) is appealing, their shape is a lot broader and more rugged in comparison. Larger eyes as well which makes them cute.

They are cute! I forget the small ancistrus species (not yours) I always wanted to try but never found them. You have a good source for unusual fish, I hope they breed for you, you've got the knack!

Not often, but it was nice to find something different. Usually only Ancistrus around are common bristlenose varieties. Not knocking them because I adore them too and have a pair in another tank that I don't intend to breed, but was neat seeing something unusual at all, and turned out to be something very unusual to find at all. Not a very common species in the hobby apparently all around.

The male is a bit less shy, the female has found a spot to hide during the day while the male seems content sitting on the sides of the logs in clear view.

The male

Male in front here, can see the female's tail between the wood on the right.

Their "scales" have a bit more of a shine to them compared to my common BN. Subtle, but very nice.

And some photos of the tank tonight anyways. Busy fish! Can see the male on the log by the black neons in the first picture. The ceramic log is for my L240 pleco, but I think I'm going to pick up another type for the new ancistrus so there's no need for them to fight.
